Restaurants

  • Orange Room Café

    Budget choice
  • In an area around Mile End station swamped with uninspiring kebab and chicken shops, the Orange Room Café is a treat: a charming, ramshackle Lebanese restaurant furnished with weary furniture and old movie posters. For diners hopeful of a more traditional Lebanese vibe there are a couple of low-to-the-floor sofas; perhaps the best place to enjoy a mango lassi or a shisha pipe. Kafta halabieh (minced lamb with parsley and onions on a skewer) was aromatic and delicious; the meze options all arrived in large, tasty portions. If you're waiting for the food to arrive and conversation runs a little dry, pluck a book from the shelf of oldies. A 1987 Berlitz guide to Milan anyone?

This place has nice food but is not as budget as it seems. They have "platters to share" as a main course for 2 and from the few times ive been there, the food is basically only enough for one person! So even though that course is only about 7 pounds each, you're basically paying for half a meal. Me and my friend always kind of get really conscious when there is no food left and we are both still hungry. Not cheap if you think about it!

Delicious food, brilliant coffee... very reasonably priced... the starters are filling and partiularly good value for money... they also have really good Arabic music playing in the background, creating a nice atmosphere...
decent milkshakes also... try the banana

The place is amasing! It has really unique, typical Lebanese food, with so much herbs and spices , the prices are very good, the atmosphere and service lovely! We really reccommend it for a nice night out!
