The hybrid Spanish-Italian cooking at this classy restaurant is unique in London. In spirit, the seasonal menu resembles a traditional list of tapas, relying on unfussy recipes that allow the flavours of top-quality ingredients to tell; yet in its detail, the choice is fascinating. Signature dishes include deep-fried courgette flowers stuffed with Spanish cheese and drizzled with honey, and confit of Old Spot pork belly with cannellini beans. On a recent visit, new additions included a delectable tapa of pan-fried polenta with salsa verde, baby beetroot and grana padano cheese, and a smoked tuna carpaccio with vinaigrette a worthy rival to the exemplary range of charcuterie offered. The clean, sophisticated decor is a perfect match for such careful cooking, making the restaurant ideal for a date, but not too formal for a relaxed meal with friends. Youll also find excellent sherries, wines and desserts to accompany the great food. The only problem? Getting a table Salt Yard is a little diminutive and certainly no secret.
