Holding its own on a street lined with fast-food caffs, family-run Mesopotamia flies the flag for Iraqi home cooking. The place is crammed with a grotto of artefacts, decorative wall friezes and candles, and our friendly host was happy to talk about the history of the various fittings and fixtures. The cooking reflects a range of Middle Eastern flavours and is as diverse as it is delicious. After sipping a chilled Lebanese pilsener, we tucked into warm flatbreads and fabulous houmous, notable for its subtle sesame flavour and lemony tang. This went down a treat with herby tabouleh and garlicky aubergine purée. Of the mains, we were especially impressed by fesenjan – chicken thighs simmered in a creamy covering of pomegranate molasses, crushed walnuts and onions. Dried fruit and meat combos are classic pairings, and slow-cooked lamb shoulder simmered in a cinnamon-infused broth with sweet apricots and tart prunes was marvellously mellow. Sweet-toothed diners should check out the delectable walnut-stuffed dates cooked in spiced syrup. These sticky delights make a great partner to the strong arabic coffee served from a traditional pot. A wonderfully warm, welcoming restaurant with top-class cooking and friendly service.

Went as part of a group to the England game, and as you would expect the place was heaving full. Nevertheless the service was friendly, polite, and informative. They could not offer the full menu which under the circumstances was understandable but we will be back to try some of the dishes that were not on. The decoration is stunning, the food SO fresh and tasty, very delicate herbs and spices made each dish a tastebud treat. Some very moreish wines made the meal even more enjoyable. I would recommend this venue to anyone. Well done!
The resturant is nice and the food. But very expensive. we were the only customers there on friday nite. sad.
Need to reduce ther prices by 50% to get the customers in. This is not the west end. West End is cheaper.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant. I ate here today after an event at Wembley and the food and service were fab. The staff and owner were extremely helpful and happy to talk about the food and the dishes were excellent. We had a mixed meze to start and then some wonderful traditional chicken and fish dishes. The service is attentive without being 'too much' with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I would totally recommend Mesopotamia. You must try the arabic coffee after the meal - simply divine!
Truly an oasis in Wembley. So much better than the Edware Road kebab shops and bars, a total no brainer if you want to taste freshly made home cooking keeping the delicate mixes of spices just right for any palate. Superb choice of dishes for the starving to the weight watcher. I would recommend this restauant to anyone. Marvelous.
