This is an authentic Italian "family" restaurant/bistro. Romano is passionately committed to serving good real food at a reasonable price in a relaxed atmosphere. If you see the ingredients you want on the menu but not the dish - they will cook the food in the way you want. Your previous reviewer either had a particularly set of unlucky circumstances or simply does not know how to enjoy this type of restaurant. I have eaten there over 100 times (truly) and even though I do not live nearby anymore will continue to go there - NOT for a gourmet experience or fawning servility, but for genuine Italian home cooking and real people. There has to be a reason that the upstairs restaurant is a favourite venue for group meals for visiting international sports teams, the priests from the church/school opposite, and various other entities.

A delightful, friendly Italian restaurant, Romano's was opened back in 1998 by Romano Silva in a great location on Kensington Church Street, close to the Royal Albert Hall and Olympia.
More than ten years on Romano's is as fresh as ever and still a magnet for local politicos and celebrities as well as lesser known discerning diners.
Priding himself on the freshness and originality of the dishes offered on his hand-picked menu, Romano himself is still very much at the forefront of the restaurant, importing wine and ingredients all the way from Italy to ensure authenticity in every aspect of the traditional cuisine which has brought a splash of Italian flair to Kensington.
