I love ice cream and gelato. My trip to Rome basically consisted of waddling from one gelateria to another, so while I'm no expert, I'm most definitely a fan. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of Scoop. After a trip to the Natural History Museum, I decided I deserved some gelato, so I finally made it over to Scoop to try it out. There was a fairly good selection but at further inspection, a lot of it was various types of chocolate. I had hoped to try the pistachio but even after asking, there wasn't any on offer last night. So I settled (quite happily) for a small cup of 2 flavours - biscotto and tiramisu. Excitedly we went out to sit on the nice benches built into the front of the shop and first mouthful - eww. So disappointing! The tiramisu was so strongly flavoured with coffee that nothing else came through. The biscotto tasted of just vanilla and nothing else. The texture was also odd - not quite gelato, not quite ice cream. It was a bit gloopy, like cupcake batter. While I really, really wanted to like it, I'm afraid the majority of my purchase went into the bin and I went home without my ice cream craving sated.
