Covering two floors, the interior of this modern Chinese restaurant seems more suited to the trendy Xintiandi area of Shanghai than to an anonymous part of Notting Hill. Moody colours and chic furnishings predominate.
The broad menu covers Cantonese, Shanghainese and Sichuan cuisines, and includes a selection of offal dishes such as pork lung slices and pig’s tripe. We started with a credible xiao long bun from the very short dim sum menu, followed by an overcooked razor clam served with a slapdash combo of spring onions and Shaoxing wine.
‘Sea and land’ pot, in which plump prawns and scallops complemented the meaty flavour of thinly sliced beef fillet, was let down by a bland Sichuan vinegar chilli sauce.
We would have traded everything for another plate of the soft Japanese-style tofu, which had marvellous flavour and texture. It arrived with mixed vegetables, including carrots carved in the shape of small ducks, and a sauce sexed up with abalone.
The manager apart, staff were glum and seemed to verge on the narcoleptic; we really wished for a brighter atmosphere at lunch.

Very nice restaurant with a fabulous ambiance and romantic atmosphere. Fair price, tasty food. Good place for having a date. Highly recommend!!! xxx
I am so grateful that they put decoration of some fruit on the side of my birthday cake, which is as small as a cupcake. The staff were so sweet and attentive. Quite love the calamaris, sichuan style fish, Dover sole, as well as the pang pang beef. I definitely will go again.
My honey and I came in purely on a recommendation from our friends. We arrived this evening with the expectation that we will be waiting but it would be well worth the wait. They were definitely right! Extremely busy place. Probably took us close to half an hour before we got seated. I took a chance to look up the reviews and did exactly what everyone mentioned when we made our order this particular evening which consisted of the following: Chicken Wings salt & pepper Chilli friend green beans Ginger Spring onion Lobster Special Friend Rice It was all yummy with juicy meat and fresh veg. Will visit again.
We had a birthday party tonight. Fabulous decorations with high quality services. We definitely will come back.
Pretty ambiance with very classic Chinese decorations and wooden walls. Love the atmosphere and songs. Dumplings was so delicious! Will visit again soon.
The Soft Shell Crab was so yummy. The waitress was very attentive. The dim sum dumplings are awesome. I will definitely bring my friends to this fantastic Chinese restaurant.
This was my first time coming to this restaurant. I MUST SAY IT WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE EVER FOR MY BIRTHDAY. My honey ordered some Dim Sum for me, which is served all day around. It was quiet good to have such a Chinese restaurant in this area. Highly recommend it.
A lovely restaurant with a beautiful private room to dine in. Good services provided by a dynamic waitress was so attentive. The menu is full of classic chinese food. The Pangpang beef was the best I tried in London. I already made a booking there for the next wedding anniversary with my wife. It's gonna be awesome!
Fabulous dinning area with cushions on the sofa. My girlfriend was exciting being there. I think we will spend my birthday night there next month. Very recommend.
My wife was so happy last night. The seventeen staff prepared a sweet gift for her after I informed them to bring the birthday cake. Very tasty Dong Po Pork and Prawn Dim Sum. I am so grateful for their attentive services. Highly recommend.
As a Chinese student, it is so difficult for me to find a authentic Chinese food in London. To be honest, Seventeen Chinese Restaurant provides the best and true Sichuan Style Food in Notting Hill area. Love the Lobster and seaweed Tofu, very new and delicious to me. The Griddle King Prawn was my favorite. I will firmly bring my friends to this restaurant again！
This modern Chinese restaurant, serving Dim Sum all day around, offer the best Sichuan Food in London. Love the Sichuan Style Fish and Dong Po Pork. The 17 Cocktail is highly recommended. I have to confess that this restaurant's ambiance in a high-class traditional style is amazing to have a dinner with friends or family. My friends paid a lot of attentions on its antiques of vase, China, Light and wooden portrait. We had a good time. So enjoyable!!! I will definitely have another visit in a very short time. XXX
The best Chinese restaurant ever in London. The ambiance is amazingly romantic filled with classic Chinese furniture. I enjoyed the dinner with my boyfriend a lot. We will definitely go there again to try more food. Love the Black Sesame paste!
we love this place, very, very accommodating for vegetarians and great food. ask for the salt and pepper tofu appetizer, green beans with garlic and chilli, mapo tofu, and aubergine. all are amazing! but agree with the review, the service is miserably slow.
One of the best Sichuan restaurants I've been to in London. Great main courses - Ma Pao Tofu, spicy fish soup and beef salad are a must. Great decor and friendly manager and staff. Ask to sit downstairs if possible.
dim sum and crispy duck were ok but the main courses were foul, they were uninspired and tfull of msg. The second bottle of white wine was warm room temperature and the service was uninspired. It was a real disappointment.
the starters were useless, no meat on the spare ribs, but main courses were not bad, very expensive had it not been for the 50%disc on the tastecard, would not recommend unless getting the discount!
Amazing. I have travelled in China a lot and this is the best meal I have found outside the country. Service was great too.
A very posh restaurant just right outside the station..The sichuan spicy fish was amazing,, It was on a spicy side but could still taste the fish... ordered a pork, vegetables and seafood fried rice,, they were all excellent... I am surprised that there is an authentic Chinese restaurant outside Chinatown which serves excellent cusine.. (I think the food and price are a lot better than Chinatown). I'll definitely go there again...
