Had Sunday lunch there today. Tried to book the Duke's Head, but it was packed out, so came here instead. Mistake! Worryingly deserted at 1.30 on a Sunday afternoon. One member of staff was friendly, warm and welcoming. Nicely laid out bar with what looks like a cheese and cured meats room, so their sharing boards would be good. One of the bar staff was pumping the bitter pumps for the entire time we were there. Presumably flushing them out, but thought that would be done prior to opening. Three of us all ordered the Sunday roast; two went for lamb and one roast beef, at £13.95 and £14.95 respectively which we thought was pretty pricey even for the area. When the plates arrived, we were shocked. Couple of slices of meat, two roast potatoes, small Yorkshire pudding, few leaves of kale and a tiny serving of carrots and parsnips. It was like a kid's portion. We ate, paid up and left. First pub I've been to in ages where the roast wasn't a huge feast with a dish of veg on the side. Suggest you try the Duke's Head, the Coat and Badge or the Spotted Horse for a decent meal instead.
