This light, airy, two-floor gastropub – and, on Sundays, neighbourhood film club – is a Fuller’s establishment par excellence.

Alongside Pride Honey Dew and seasonals such as Spring Sprinter, the taps offer Leffe, Peroni and Staropramen. A dozen or so wines of each colour gradually ascend the pricing scale until they’re nearly at £30 a bottle.

The Stonemasons Arms is one of those venues that could sit in several chapters within this book. We’ve put it in the beer section, but it’s also both a good-looking, easygoing local and a fine gastropub, drawing professionals who sit in the sunken back area around the half-open kitchen and tuck into reliable British cooking as sunlight sweeps over the wooden furniture. The decor is provided by tasteful line drawings, and entertainment comes from Sky Sports.

A very disappointing experience at a pub I've visited many times (and previously enjoyed, although never bowled over by the food). Out of the six of us at our table, five of our meals had problems: medium rare steak ordered was well done; medium / well done steak was so over-cooked it was like leather and inedible; the burger bap was badly burnt and resembled charcoal; the club sandwich bread was burnt with under-cooked egg - not a great combo; the fish ordered was off completely you would have got food poisoning eating it. And the service was extremely slow in a fairly empty lunchtime environment. Even allowing for post Christmas sleepiness this was a dreadful meal on every level with far too many mistakes.

Very nice environment, very good food and service. It's becoming my local.

I had a meal here on Saturday night. The service was quite slow and haphazard though the staff were pleasant. We had finished our starter before our wine arrived for example - and it only arrived then because we went to the bar to request it. I think if a bar cannot offer restaurant service then they should not try - I would have been happy to order my meal at the bar and I am sure it would have been much quicker. The food was good quality but I will not be returning in a hurry even though I live around the corner. As the reviews below speak highly of the service perhaps it was just an off night though it was not particularly busy. Also the Hammersmith Privilege Card website states that there is 10% off of food when you present your card but the staff said that they do not accept the card which I found irritating.

Booked a table here due to the great reviews (was going to the Apollo) on Saturday - the reviews do not do this place justice, the food is excellent, yes a little pricey but well worth it, the staff are fantastic! wish i lived closer so i could go here more often, will make an effort to go back as had a fabulous meal thankyou The Stonemasons Arms, keep up the good work
