In the dining room, refectory tables and muted colours set the scene for a line-up of sophisticated pub dishes such as devilled Cornish mackerel with beetroot and dill relish, beef fillet with parsley risotto or crispy duck leg with peas, bacon, baby gem and tarragon jus. There are steaks for the carnivorous die-hards, while desserts might bring raspberries and cream or pear and pistachio tart.
