The Society Club is a bookshop, but also a place for 'the best of all possible things', according to its owners. As such, it brings together tea, coffee, cocktails and cakes to be enjoyed in interesting company at a long communal table; the Club also sells vintage wares and literature, plus ownmade jams from "Mrs. P". Poetry readings, live music, storytelling and other artistic endeavours also take place at the venue.

Not sure why Time out gave it a 2. I stumbled upon this last night for Margeret Pepper's talk about her life and paintings and met the most fabulous array of friendly people. It's intimate but very friendly and Babette and Carrie who run the place are extremely knowledgable about their books. I would say this is one of London's hidden gems.
A truly wonderful and unique place, a home from home with an excellent selection of books, interesting people and fantastic events.
