Bar and restaurant serving wood-fired pizzas, steaks and a Sunday roast

It might look like a traditional old boozer, but it's as much about the food as it is the beer at this popular Surrey Quays spot. And just to make sure they're covering as many bases as possible, they offer live music and even art competitions, too.

The wood-fired pizzas are particularly popular here, with traditional margheritas and Fiorentinas alongside those with tiger prawns and chorizo, or prosciutto, mozzarella, rocket, parmesan and pear. The main restaurant menu is influenced by the Med - think crab and samphire tagliatelle, or pan-fried salmon with chorizo. A grill menu, as well as a Sunday roast, does brisk business, too.

The bar here features a solid range of beers on draught, with Peroni, Hoegaarden, Meantime Pilsner and Meantime Pale Ale complementing the bottles in the chiller. There's an accessible wine list too, as well as a selection of classic cocktails.

The Yellow House is an independent restaurant with a cocktail bar, cosy lounge and terrace overlooking Southwark Park in south-east London. We are near Canada Water underground station and next to Surrey Quays overground station.

We offer a weekly-changing restaurant menu, a grill menu including our home-made Scotch beef burgers and hand-cut chips, and a wood-fired pizza menu. All meals served at The Yellow House are made by us on our premises using fresh ingredients. In addition the Friday special is freshly made Hoegaarden battered sea bass fish and chips, and on Sundays we serve our popular Sunday roast Scotch beef with our homemade Yorkshire puddings and bone gravy for lunch. All our breads, cakes, puddings and ice creams are made by us.

We serve tasty cocktails, draught premium beers including Peroni Nastro Azzuro and Hoegaarden, Meantime Pilsner lager and London Pale Ale, Aspalls and Guinness. Our wine list includes a selection of excellent, good value wines from around the world, many of which are available by the glass. We also offer regular 'wine of the week' specials and host wine tastings.

The Yellow House is a great venue for small and large groups for birthday celebrations, engagement parties, wedding receptions, staff and Christmas parties. The bar and lounge can be reserved for receptions followed by a meal in the dining room with table seating for up to 70 guests and we can offer flexible menu options.

The Yellow House is a fantastic local, with a great offering. Whether you're here for entertainment (live music), just a drink, modern european cuisine, or a pizza from their wood fired oven - there's something for a variety of occasions.

I was here for a lovely meal several weeks back, and we ordered the salmon (cooked to perfection) and the lamb, which was full of flavour. Prices are very reasonable, too - it's the perfect place to be a regular at and the staff are very welcoming.

The Yellow House is basically the only decent wine bar in Surrey Quays/Canada Water (correct me if I'm wrong, people). It's different to the pubs and other eateries in that it's definitely in the "smarter" category (without being crazy smart). Ie, it's not a chicken shop or chinese takeaway. The yellow house has the absolute friendliest owners - and the owner/chef is very talented. I've had numerous good meals in here, and can say I've especially enjoyed the pizzas - they are fantastic and are made in a proper pizza oven.

There is a small terrace outdoors which sits in the back of Southwark park almost. When I was dogsitting I took the dog in there and we ate outside. I'm always very happy to recommend the food here and I'm certainly happy that this place is in my 'hood.
