The cosy booths in this long-established restaurant just off Carnaby Street are filled with a vibrant mix of families, Koreans and the usual West End crowd. Try not to end up in the brightly lit private dining room at the back, as you'll miss out on much of the bustling atmosphere. Hot hand towels are brought to the table as soon as you sit down - a nice touch.

The menu covers the usual Korean repertoire (soups, barbecue, stir-fries and noodles) executed to a reasonable standard. Tolsot bibimbap is available in an assortment of flavours, including beef, pork, chicken, prawn or tofu; egg doesn't come as standard, though, so ask if you want it (for a £1 supplement). Our beef version was tasty enough, but too oily.

From the barbecue menu, sweet marinated pork contrasted well with its salt and sesame oil dip. A selection of namul included satisfyingly crunchy blanched bean sprouts and palate-cleansing, sweet, spicy radish.

Buzzers brought staff - who were polite if not over-friendly - to the tables quickly. Although barley tea is missing from the drinks list, there are plenty of other Korean options including ginseng tea and soju cocktails.

went yesterday with friends, the service was definitely brill, i loved their uniforms! food was excellent, even though the price was a tad expensive,it was worth the money :) the atmosphere was very lively as you could hear lots of food on the grill sizzling! it was by far the best korean restaurant i have been to so far comparing it to other restaurants in london(good location as well) i don't know why time out gave it two stars, should be at least 5!!!!

Went tonight for the first time and probably the last. In short - food ok, service ghastly, cleanliness questionable. Overpriced.

Food was reasonably ok, but let down by the sizes of portions. Korean 'Lite' beer was awful, but I'm happy to put it down to experience. Steak tartare was interesting (sliced raw beef with raw egg), not french style, but served with lashings of sugar and sesame seeds and julliened cucumber and pear. Interesting but the meat was almost frozen in the middle, which killed the dish. Ox tongue and beef grill, ok not special. Sesame seed sauce overpowered both. Mixed vegetables, including kimchi passable. Our soups (seaweed and egg) were less then ordinary, hardly worth a mention.

We got a whiff of burning washing up liquid as the grill plate was fired up at our table; clearly not rinsed properly and my beer glass had dirt stuck at the bottom. I've pointed both out to the waiting staff after which they've deducted £1.90 from our bill, but kept both the service charge and the beer. Strange.

I've given up any attempt at reasoning with the staff as they spoke almost no english (which includes the manager). As we were about to leave large party turned up, which the staff had trouble findin seating for, in a nearly empty restaurant, and subsequently there was lot of banging of plates and chairs in frustration as they were arranging seating for them. Definite no, no.

I'd question the review giving this place 5 stars; lots must've changed in 2 years. 3 stars max in my book.

I went myung last night for a birthday meal - unfortunately the whole party was let hungry by the shockingly small portions ( the sea food platter for two consisted of one small plate, with a few pieces of squid and a lone mussel (yes, just the one!) and ridiculously high service charges. We left feeling hungry and ripped off.
