We love this Finnish-owned spot, and its new Marylebone offshoot. The counter set-up looks like any modern sandwich bar, but a quick glance at the food on offer immediately sets it apart as authentic, gourmet and health-minded.
Exquisite rye breads of unusually light texture surround fillings such as salmon tartare, or egg and herring (there's usually smoked salmon, ham and cheese, and cheese and pickle for the less adventurous). Karelian pies filled with rice or mashed potato and topped with egg-butter spread are not to be missed - and are filling, despite their modest size and £1.60 price tag. We also adore the tender rye and blueberry muffins, oatmeal cookies and hefty, sticky cinnamon buns with their addictive sugar-and-spice filling.
Even when busy, the café exudes serenity - perhaps because of the relaxed yet achingly stylish decor of pine panelling and petrol blue paint. You'll probably sit there, as we tend to, sipping coffee from the designer cups and glasses, wondering if you can get them to redecorate your place.

Babies and children admitted, Takeaway servicegreat coffee and great place BUT PLEASE WAITRESSES>>>tie your scandi hair back when serving food!!!! it just looks wrong to have hair dangling over the buns and till...yuk.
Yes the rye rolls are lovely and the coffee is good - but I was shocked to find that the cinnamon rolls which are an absolute Scandi staple where large heavy dry and stodgy lumps, baked so hard that the bottom hard burnt to an inedible black caramel crisp. The Tosca cake - also a Scandi favourite and staple was ok - a pleasant enough flavour but again a bit on the heavy side ever so slightly raw in the centre...
This place is not cheap - and I expected something better
