Bright, fun and full of local workers taking lunch, Comptoir Libanais is part-canteen, part-delicatessen. One wall is lined with shelves containing preserves and other imported goods. The rest of the space is taken up with colourful tables and chairs.
Dishes are clearly displayed behind the counter, and there are plenty to choose from: salads, tagines, wraps, and mountains of glistening pastries and baklava. Service was personable even during the lunchtime rush, but while the decor is appealing, the standard of cooking is no better than the Middle Eastern caffs of the Edgware Road; we think it has slipped a bit.
Fruit juices come in a variety of interesting and vitamin-packed flavours, with apple, mint and cucumber a highlight.
