Dose Espresso has moved next door, into Kipferl's ex-premises, giving it a bright, clean-lined makeover in its trademark mix of wood, white and red. Although the welcome is friendly, staff are inclined to lecture on subjects such as grinding beans for home use - the problem is, people are then less inclined to forgive slips such as the lukewarm warm milk in our latte (though it was speedily replaced with a smile).
Otherwise, there's much to like about the clear-mindedness of this spot, which attracts a steady stream of City workers. Fairtrade is, as owner James Phillips rightly attests, the very minimum standard to work to as far as responsible sourcing goes. He offers Square Mile blends, plus changing guest coffees, such as Machacamarca single estate from Bolivia, or simply Climpson & Sons espresso. The milk is organic, as are the breads, and the daily soup and sweet bakes are provided by Bittersweet Bakers.

Babies and children admitted, Takeaway serviceGreat place, excellent coffee. £2.30 for a champion flat white is perfectly reasonable and about the middle of what the better coffee joints around town charge. I agree with the last dude; plenty of good advice on hand if you ask for it.
These people really care about their coffee and are exacting in their standards. I've never been lectured about coffee but I've had plenty of good advice, perhaps the reviewer above had trouble telling the difference... :-) Food offered is also well made with some thought. As for pricing seems same cost as coffee which is nothing like as good from the chains. I recommend the aeropress (and the crumble).
best flat white i've had - perfect small size, woody but not bitter, strong but creamy, not sickly at all. A little expensive though (£2.30)!
Fred, you are just showing yourself to be completely unknowledgeable about good coffee. If you find excellent coffee and coffee shops a problem, there are plenty of Starbucks and Costa coffee shops for you to visit.
