Chelsea's shooting set probably feels quite at home among the trophy antlers and stuffed birds adorning the walls of the small dining area at the back of the Cadogan Arms. A majestic buffalo head peered down as we tucked into a pleasurable starter of scallops and sweetcorn purée, topped with shards of crisp bacon.
Waiting staff told us they had served over 100 covers since noon by the time we arrived on a Sunday evening. The high demand on the kitchen might explain a lacklustre main course of pork belly. Chewy and seemingly not slow-roasted as advertised, this was accompanied by an overcooked yorkshire pudding of prawn cracker-like consistency. All was forgiven, however, when our pan-fried monkfish arrived, bathing in a mussel-dotted broth with flashes of green broad beans and braised gem lettuce.
To drink, order something from the well-ordered wine list, or a pint of Adnams or London Pride. Unlike the taxidermy ducks surrounding us, service was decidedly unstuffy; a bottle of chilled tap water is brought to table as a matter of course. We'll definitely return, if only to appease the food envy we experienced from the aroma of truffle-scented pasta wafting past our table.

The food was good although my partridge was overcooked (dry). Price was reasonable and we will probably return. What did I like most? Their bread was AMAZING! The smell was great and it was light with crunchy sides. A dream... If a bakery in this country could do the same, it would be famous...
I was a bit nervous when my friends said we were going to the Cadogan Arms for a special birthday lunch last Saturday. I had read the reviews on this web site so did not hold high expectations. Wow was I surprised! We booked for 2 pm, by the time we got there ours was the only table empty. The place was full of people eating and drinking, there was a real buzz. The staff were really friendly and helpful, offering great suggestions for drinks and recommendations for food. The food was delicious! I had a wonderful octopus carpaccio starter and the salmon fillet I had for main course was to die for! Perfectly cooked, full of flavour and served with the perfect amount of vegetables to be filling but not too heavy, a fact that was much appreciated as it gave me space for my nectarine creme brulee (yum!) and mine wasn't the only nice meal, I think a small war may have broken out as we all tried to taste each others dinners - all were superb. The whole day was a treat. We ended up staying all afternoon drinking cocktails and celebrating. I will definitely be going back soon!
A frustratingly disappointing meal. Started was excellent, Arbroath Smokie, had a real depth of smokiness. Main course: fish and chips were probably the best I’ve had in London. Lamb leg steak and the plaice were both over cooked. Desert: cheese was slightly cold and didn’t come with the advertised oakcakes. Rocky road cherry desert was interesting but lacked any real flavour. A rare dud from Timeout.
