They won't exactly chuck a prawn on the barbie, but this affable Australian-New Zealand outfit has a discerning selection of foods to enjoy alongside the coffees expertly made on its Synesso machine.
After a couple of years of trading, Kaffeine has attracted a loyal fan-base despite quality local competition and although the peak-time queues are relentless, the atmosphere is as enlivening as the espresso. The tight space is neatly and chicly handled, with high tables and benches near the counter, and regular tables at the back.
Trademark Antipodean snacks (banana bread, anzac biscuits, melting moments, friands) feature, but the weekly-changing menu also reflects the rich pickings of the British countryside, with goodies such as damson muffins, and pear and ale bread with mascarpone (from the new brunch selection). Salads and sarnies are mostly Mediterreanan in inspiration, with artisan suppliers the bedrock of the recipes. Office catering is available, as are coffee-making classes.

came to try out the coffee at this much talked about coffee house, the service was good, friendly and attentive, however, truth be told, i was not blown away by the coffee at all, infact it tasted borderline burnt, had an americano to start, accompanied with a chocolate brownie, which was good, wanted to give the coffee another chance and ordered a flat white with a Portuguese custard tart... both were of a poor standard. the custard tart was overly sweet, (but maybe thats just me), the inhouse pastry soft and the custard scrambled...
dont know who to look to blame as it was the first time i have had square mile coffee...barista for not looking after his coffee or roaster??
Love Kaffeine, service is outstanding and the food to die for. Can't say I am a coffee drinker but great hot chocolate and selection of bottled juices. I keep going back for more!!
We really love Kaffeine, go there every weekend; The excellent coffee, service & food keep us coming back.
