If you've been to Sri Lanka before, the scent of cloves and cinnamon emanating from the warm, friendly Elephant Walk will spirit you right back to the teardrop spice island. A traditional egg hopper seemed simply flavoured until zingy coconut sambal kicked in, and a South Indian-inspired masala dosa was a generous portion of delicious crisp pancake stuffed with softly spiced potato. Tender lamb and okra curry had hints of cumin, and a lush pumpkin curry featured large wedges of succulent veg floating in a smooth sauce of coconut and ground spices. A flaccid naan bread brought the average down a little, but sweetened with a salt lassi and presented with a bill under £30, we left singing the place's praises.
