This small pub is beloved of east London bohemians for its thrown-together decor (edgy artwork, memorabilia-crammed bar area) and late opening (until 3am at weekends), but it also does surprisingly good 12-inch pizzas.
A dozen toppings are offered, served whole or, for a few pounds less, as a half with salad - in defiance of economic logic, a much more substantial meal than having a whole one. The bases are key (crisp and bubbly cornicione, solid in the middle), but the unfussy toppings are good too.
We particularly enjoyed the napoletana, with anchovies that were juicy and not excessively salty.
The generous sprinkling of fresh basil leaves on the margherita looked appealing but didn't really allow the basil/mozzarella/tomato flavours to integrate.
Not a winner, then, but much better than you might expect in the nighbourhood.
