Time Out says   Rate it

Something of a default Time Out staff room, this seductive spot offers rather louche, brown velvety seating cleverly separated by armrest-cum-tables, plus a couple of bench-and-table options at the back.

The crew are chatty (as are the customers), promptly offering water while your espresso brews in the La Marzocco machine. Old tins of Lyle's black treacle hold the sugar. A changing roster of featured artists (on our visit, moody black and white photographs), and an ornate white-framed mirror provide wall interest.

We've never had cause to complain about the coffee, but, sadly, detected a sour finish to a flat white on our last visit - we suspect an unfortunate blip. In addition to espresso drinks, Tapped & Packed offers a choice of coffees brewed by filter, siphon or Aeropress. Like the espresso blends, these change seasonally: you might find the jasmine and fruit flavours of Duncan Organic Kotowa Farm coffee from Panama, or the sweet almond and peanut notes of Brazil's Capim Branco.

Filled baguettes, salads, fruit tarts, victoria sponge and cupcakes are enticingly displayed by the window, making this a no-brainer for lunch.

The coffee here is great! What lets it down is the staff who are often pretty unwelcoming. Also be warned, there is no mention of Tapped and Packed on the signage or inside (apparently they are anti - branding!) so if you arrange to meet here look for no. 26 on the sign.
