This London bistro of American super-chef Daniel Boulud may be situated inside one of London's grand hotels, but the dining here is refreshingly informal, and adults with children are welcomed with sincerity. The open-plan kitchen lies at the centre of a big dining area decorated in oak and claret leather; the room bristles with happy customers.
Food is French but comes with New York style, so expect to find piggie burger next to the fruits de mer. There's stellar charcuterie from Gilles Verot, and when we visited on a Sunday, a £22 lunch menu including coffee. The cooking doesn't push any boundaries, but food is delivered with aplomb, and prices are reasonable for Knightsbridge.
Symmetrical goat's cheese terrine with a mosaic of vegetables came with a tomato-basil pesto and sweet vine-ripened tomatoes. And in a dish of croustilles de porc, we loved the crisp texture of the pig's ear (served with gribiche sauce), and the highly audible crunchiness of the pork scratchings. Next, pappardelle with duck confit and oyster mushrooms was comforting, and to finish, raspberry came up trumps (in the form of fruit, coulis, sorbet) in a mascarpone-filled pavlova. Order camomile infusion and it comes with the real flowers - classy.

Facilities
Babies and children welcome ( high chairs; nappy-changing facilities ), Booking advisable, Separate rooms for parties ( seating 16 ), Disabled ( toilet ), Dress ( smart casual )Service was great. Food was okay, didn't serve tea and scones which was a bit disappointing,
Overall rather expensive for what we got.
This is a great restaurant. Nice food great service
Good food, at prices you'd expect. But the service was poor and the room had more than a hint of basement pizzeria to it.
Having booked for 8.30pm we got a table a little before 9.30pm, in the private dining area that was shared awkwardly with three other tables of diners - although at least we were a little removed from the shrill clatter and chatter of the cramped main dining area.
Fish soup was excellent. The waitress poured the soup into my bowl strewn prettily with croutons and muttered an introduction to the dish, mentioning rouille. I asked for more rouille - it is only spiced mayo, but I love it in larger quantities than they offered spontaneously - and she came back with more soup. If the staff are going to speak French at me, perhaps they should know what they're saying?
For mains, the deal-breaker: my chips were cold.
Our experience was not good.In spite of masses of waitstaff and a huge number of "suits" managing them, every course we ordered went to the wrong table before eventually coming back to us.This meant tepid food;runny ice cream etc.
We were there at lunch on a saturday and the place was half full,so no excuse there.
For me,the cold pea soup was pleasant, nothing more. The burger was also ok,nothing more(don't really see why some reviewers hail these burgers as the second coming). The caramel ice cream-see above. My partner had the coq au vin which was very good. But her starter -the famous charcuterie plate was poor.None of the luscious items mentioned by bloggers and reviewers was present.Don't know if this was just during the opening week that these items were present-but her plate included sliced ham that was about half white fat;greasy sweaty salame;a celeriac small cup that was turning brown;a finger slice of rabbit terrine that had to be sent back because of.....;very dispiriting. They took it off the bill after the mishap. The half pint of beer was great but was £5.50!!!!plus service. So it seems just another place that overpromises, and underdelivers at great expense, like many in London.
Excellent food and service, especially since it just opened a week ago! Tried the Piggie Burger, Boudin Blanc, Charcuterie (of course!), and the roasted Lamb Chops. The chops were divine - so moist and flavorful. The Piggie Burger was good too - the bbq pork really makes it. Boudin Blanc was out of this world - so rich and creamy and decadent, it almost melts in your mouth. And of course the charcuterie is just as good as Bar Boulud in NYC. Pate Grandpere is my favorite with delightful chunks of foie gras in the terrine.
The value is excellent, especially for the posh location, and it's about time London upped its game with good cuisine!
