Ideally located on the second floor of department store Fenwick, Bond & Brook has ladies-who-lunch firmly in its sights. The elegant mid-century furniture, white palette, flashy pewter bar and framed fashion photography make the venue a stylish stop for shoppers, while its all-day menu has feminine appeal.

Breakfast and brunch run the gamut from yoghurt on granola to smoked salmon with scrambled egg and brioche; lunch features light tapas options alongside more substantial main meals. From the tapas menu, artichokes alla giudia were charred rather than crunchy, but the slivers of duck breast with orange salad were sublime. We liked the main dish of black ink linguine with crab meat, chilli and parsley, despite the fact the pasta had been boiled well past al dente.

Next time, though, we might stick to the frou-frou afternoon tea. Dainty sandwiches, fondant fancies and a cheeky champagne cocktail make for a suitably wicked break from frocks and shoes.

I have recently seen a review that branded this place as very girly and stylish and I couldn't agree more! I have just recently discovered Fenwick and went there for a quick browse (so sophisticated it is almost intimidating, but it is in a class of its own) and to complete my leisurely afternoon I went to Bond and Brook for the afternoon tea. The staff is really nice and knowledgeable, it seems to be one of these rare places whose employees actually DO enjoy working there and their "welcome, how are you today" is really genuine. The tea was just lovely, full of flavour, expertly prepared and the serving set! I wanted it immediately. The food was nice and fresh and I really enjoyed it: I may have eaten better scones in my life but these weren't lacking anything either. I am willing to overlook their lack of wow factor for the restaurant's atmosphere though!
Overall: a really lovely place that I will certainly be recommending to my friends.
