Myself and a few friends thought that it's been such a gratefull experience find a restaurant where the food taste like home.
Mexico is a country with a contrast on flavours and with such a rich cuisine.
Definitely Lupita tick all the boxes. A few Mexican friends told me about it and I could not believe that tacos al pastor where available out of Mexico!!! Wow! And the salsas served for the tacos where so yummi!! Just like grandmother did.

We had guacamole artesanal prepared on our table. That is such a plus I'd you are looking for fresh food. We tried Chicharron de queso, costras, alambres and it was just like in the taco shops in Mexico!! We wonder how they managed to have all this together in central London. A real taco shop where we as Mexicans can hang out for a taco like if we were in our country. The carnitas where super and we tried the Sopa de verduras, and all of us Agreed that tasted like home again. The restaurant was packed in a few minutes and the Mexican music loud and vibrant made out night as all of us end up singing and having out favourites tequilas. We had chance to chat with the waitress who was from Mexico aswell and we want to thanks her for such a great time!!! Not only to her but to who ever is behind of such a cool restaurant.
We definitely advise to any one feeling home sick to visit this venue!!!

Had an amazing time at this place the other night. The staff is friendly, the food is as real mexican as you can get in London! The Pastor tasted just like it does in Mexico City. The Chicarron was great as well and also the ceviche is fresh and served on an avocado. It you want to eat real mexican you got to check this place out. Great margaritas too. Will be a regular here now that I found it.

Had a great meal out with a friend. The guacamole was good, especially with the chipotle sauce. The tuna Tostada and pork tacos were both amazing. Highly recommend.

This is definitely the best mexican food in London by far. My partner and I shared the Totopas Clasicos which was delicious. I had the prawn tacos which were recommended by the waitress which were amazing. I also had Aguacate Relleno, which was half an avocado stuffed with ceviche. It was fresh and tasteful. My partner had the Chicharron with guacamole which was a crispy fried cheese and then the arrachera steak quesadillas which he raved about all night long. The restaurant was lively and all the staff friendly and helpful. I liked how everyone seemed to be taking care of all of the customers in the restaurant and delivering the food quickly to the tables after it was prepared. The music was great as well and really added to the atmosphere of the place. Great job Lupita! Can't wait to go back again!

Tasty mushroom quesadillas, but would've been very plain without the sauces. And I did think I've made better at home, but that's not to say it was unpleasant. Friendly waitress and some of the best nachos I've had. Good place for a lunchtime pit-stop or a tasty drunken snack.

Where to begin? First, my credentials: born and raised in Albuquerque New Mexico. NM has its own well known and unique variation on Mexican Food, and it is NOT Texmex, Calmex or Oklamex; and in addition offers loads of authentic Mexican Food. Lupita, while offering an authentic menu, the over all quality was very disappointing. So patchy! First the meat was very good – cooked and seasoned well. We had an Arrachera steak burrito, and Cochinita Pilbil tacos and Arrachera steak quesadillas – but there the ‘goodness’ ends. The tacos, had beans (which is not mentioned on the menu), a little bit of meat and too much of really poor quality cheese – very gummy. The Burrito, good meat but not enough for the price (£7.95) and again, let down by the cheese, as were the Quesadillas – such a pity! The salsas were okay. The Tomatillo was good, the Ranchero, which should be a smoky chipotle flavour was okay but nothing to write home about. And no garnishes? Just a bit of lettuce and onion would have boosted the consistency options on the palate and certainly would make the presentation less like what you get in a hospital! Avoid the Classic Margarita at £5.50 – just weak lime juice, and cough up the £7.50 for the Premium one – much better. Service okay but refused to pay the suggested and listed rate of 12.5% and left 10% -- plenty! I would not go again unless the Mexican craving was so intense and I was limited to the immediate Charing Cross area. However, I am lucky! I have the basics shipped from home and am well known for making my own home cooked New Mexican and Mexican food.

Went last night and had a dreadful time. Arrived, and the place smelled faintly like a toilet. Stood in the doorway for a minute or two before asking a passing waiter if I could sit down. Sat in the window, by the door, and lost my iPod down the back of the bench. Spent ten minutes with my partner trying to fish it out - no help offered from the staff until we asked, at which point they offered to hoover it out at the end of the meal. Ordered two beers, only one arrived, five minutes later. Ordered two chicken burritos (surely the staple, plain vanilla of any Mexican restaurant) and were served two, just-warm and very flat wraps filled mostly with cream and strong tasting cheddar, along with the second beer. Ate those very quickly, so ordered some Nachos Classicos, at £6.95, to fill ourselves up. The resulting bowl was generously proportioned, but tasted mostly of ingredients made by Doritos. In general, Lupito feels like a place recently put under new management: it's grubby, the staff have little direction from a young manager, and the food has been value-engineered into using cheaper ingredients. My partner had to pass two waitresses arguing with each other on the way to the ladies - which sort of says it all. At £33 for two beers, two very disappointing wraps and a bowl of nachos, I shan't be returning.

I honestly can't rate Lupita high enough. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is fresh and delicious. It was my second visit and will definitely keep going back. The Guacamole was made freshly in front of us (it's worth paying extra for), the Nopales and Smoked Chicken Burrito equally delicious. Go crazy with the different salsas and chilli sauces they provide and squeeze lime to your taste. This is fresh Mexican eating at it's best, not greasy Tex-Mex! Definitely check it out!

I celebrated my birthday yesterday at Lupita and was very impressed by the customer service and the extent to which the staff went to make our night special, so wanted to express my gratitude online by way of a good review. We had a great night and felt very comfortable. The food was amazing with very interesting flavours, and different to what we were used to, ie Tex Mex. I especially enjoyed the margaritas! Therefore I was really surprised to come across some of these comments.
Given the choice, for me Lupita would win every time, especially on authenticity compared to alot of other restaurants. For anyone reading these reviews, I would recommend trying Lupita for yourself and making your own opinion.

We would like to apologize to all customers that came to Lupita on Saturday 21st May for the inconveniences caused. This is not our normal operation method and never since we have opened had a shortfall on our menu items like that evening. We pride ourselves on providing the most authentic Mexican food in London and we still believe we can achieve this goal. We would like to ask people that left disappointed that evening to give us the benefit of the doubt and try us again to allow us to restore your faith in our business.
Thank you all for your comments on this websites, it helps us improve every day. If you feel you need to contact us directly you can do so via email to info@lupita.co.uk

Lupita is the worst Mexican restaurant in central London. 10 years ago, it would have been novel, and would have gained some points, but Taqueria, Wahaca, Pacific (yes, it is tex mex), and even some of the burrito upstarts like Chipotle, And Mas Burrito (but not Benitos Hat, unless you want grissle instead of meat) will give you a better meal. Lupita will always bring images of tasteless slop wrapped in corn products to my mind. Sorry guys, I was excited when you opened a back in 2010, but I think you need a serious rethink.

I am a big fan of Lupita where I go on a regular basis since last autumn. I think the quality of the food and drinks are excellent, the service friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and fresh and the prices very good. It has become one of my favourite retaurants in Londonand certainly my favourite Mexican restaurant (which food I know very well for having been to Mexico many times and having tried all Mexican restaurants in London).

Just Unbelievable!!! A saturday night, center of london, a mexican restaurant which half menu is not available??? No tacos because they run out of tortilla? no beef dishes because they finish the steaks...furthermore cheat on the dishes that they have...no good at all. The worst mexican restaurant in london. I am mexican and a profesional chef, I do not recommend this restaurant for food-mexican lovers or lovers of the good taste.

As far as I concerned LUPITA is one of the worst Mexican Restaurant in London. My wife and me went last night and from the moment we walked into the place and the hostage/waiter came to welcome us we began to disappointed: poor english and worst spanish, rush and rude way. More than 10 minutos waiting for a table to end up sitting on the bar. After a while the waiter came to take our order, we were excited to taste the food, but we were very susprised when we were told by the waiter that there was not any beef dish, or any kind of tacos, can you believe it? A mexican restaurant without tacos, furthermore, a mexican restaurant in the middle of London, on a Saturday night run out of "tortillas" and more than a half of the menu was no available. It was just unbelievable!! In additition, the food we ordered was horrible, nachos same level as you can find in any other pub, salsas tasteless, quesadilla de chorizo (only dish not vegetarian from the menu available)was a big big fraud, they pretend that the a costumer believe that is eating chorizo from Toluca or in a Toluca Style...cheaters!!! Inside my quesadilla was a cheap and poor quality chorizo sausague the most cheapest on the market and mixed with parsley... that is not mexican ladies and gentlemen, also the tortilla was overcook... as a profesional chef and real mexican this is unacceptable. Not recommend for people who expect good food.

I went last night and I have to say I was relatively disappointed. The food was tasty but we waited for an hour and a half for our food. It wasn't even busy when we were there. This was utterly ridiculous as we only ordered taco's each which you would expect to be cooked in a less then half of this time. I would be willing to try this place again as the food was intriguiging, although they seriously have to up their game on the service.

We went last night and I was really intrigued - such tasty food, and am always pleased to find tapas-style portions of any cuisine. Not like any Mexican place I've been to before, loads of new things to try - the only problem was that I didn't have a chance to browse this varied menu in more detail because I was with a chatty group of friends!

I'm surprised about some of the comments here! This place is AMAZING. I am Mexican and I can tell you that Lupita is where you'll get a proper feel of how our food tastes like (outside the country of course). If you don't like the taste in this place, you'll probably have a very hard time feeding yourself in Mexico (if you ever go, that is).

I took a long time trying those burrito places and other "Mexican" ones to feel at home, every single one led me to disappointment. I then tried Wahaca and it got close, but the food was still not right.

The moment I stepped into Lupita after reading the menu, I knew this was the real deal. Lupita was brought to London by a Taquería (El Farolito), established in Mexico City more than 40 years ago. I ate there many times growing up and to this day, whenever I go to Mexico, El Farolito is a must (my English fiancée loves it too). So I can tell you, this is a proper Mexican Taquería. The menu back in Mexico is broader, but Lupita's menu is quite representative of a small portion of Mexican dishes.

Of course, if you're used to the horrid burritos and other food that is made in restaurants that claim to be Mexican, well... what can I say. Wrong place for you, definitely.

I had Quesadillas de flor de calabaza, which is one of my favourite dishes and I can tell you I felt like HOME when I had the first bite. My fiancée had Tacos de carnitas and they were the proper ones too. The table sauces are EXACTLY the same and the Agua de Jamaica (or Hibiscus water) is, again, just like in Mexico. EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.

The staff and cooks are all Mexican, or at least most and it's great to speak in Spanish with them. The service might be a bit slow though. We went for a quick taco and quesadilla before going to a show and thought they'd be fast, but to be honest, if it hadn't been for being in a rush, we wouldn't have minded just for the sake of having REAL MEXICAN FOOD. Which is why I'm giving it 5 stars. Most of the other places are just a Fast Food version of what people in the United States think Mexican Food is. It's not easy to find proper Mexican food outside of Mexico and I'm proud to say Lupita's got it.

Still expensive for what you can get in Mexico, however, not bad for being in the Centre of London.

Haven't had Mexican food before I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. We were adviced to order a few of the Tacos and Quesadillas in a "tapas" style to share with the group and we were very satisfied at the end of the meal, the sauces at the table range in hotness for those who like mild or hot and they certainly add flavour to the dishes. There could be some work done on the service but the atmosphere was lively, fun and genuine which adds to the experience. Good find and looking forward to going again soon since I was told by the staff they are looking to build a cocktail bar downstairs!

After getting a waiting time of 1 1/2 hours at the queue at Wahaca my husband and I decided to give a try to Lupita. Portions are like tapas, so be sure to get 2-3 to get well fed. Food is really tasty and their Torta Cubana is one of the best Sandwiches I have had recently. Staff seemed rushed yet friendly. I will definitely go back.

Friendly staff, great Mexican food and really low prices. The guacamole is amazing - I saw them making it and they bring it out with every meal! I've never been to a Mexican which has authentic Mexican food but this is as close as I've found in London. Don't bother with Wahaca up the road unless you want something ready made and super quick - it's tasteless.

And to 'Disaster' - why would you go there on a Sunday if it wasn't open? And why would you take your car into London?!

I visited this restaurant after noticing a new Mexican place had opened since I was last in London. Having just traveled through Mexico and Central America, I was very excited to find this place had very authentic food. The tacos are just like the delicious tacos you find in Mexico - simple, yet so deliciously tasty! None of the Tex-Mex crap that you usually get everywhere outside of Mexico. I will definitely be back and telling all my friends about it.

No, Lupita is not like what one would get in Mexico. However, it's close. The food is the most authentic and flavoursome I've found in London. Much better than the nearby, tasteless Wahaca!

My partner and I ordered around 7 dishes to share. The carnitas and other 'plain' (i.e. no sauce) meats let things down by not being flavoursome enough in my opinion, I'll be honest. However, all other meat that inckluded a sauce and the vegetable dishes were utterly divine.

The nachos and refried beans we began with (regular size) was plenty for 2 to share (if having several other dishes) and very generous when it came to the beans. Tha flan at the end of our meal was absolutely sumptous.

Will be returning soon, next time perhaps trying a more adventurous margarita such as tomato or cactus!
