It can be difficult to find something new and different in the neighbourhood of Notting Hill, so spoilt are locals when it comes to restaurants, so thank goodness for the Walmer Castle, a genuinely unusual blend of British pub and Thai restaurant. With all the cosy comfort and charming vibe of the best of public houses, the Walmer Castle nonetheless throws itself whole heartedly in to creating a believably Eastern setting, complete with dimmed lighting, glamorous touches of gold and richly patterned wall coverings. The result is part glam boutique resort restaurant, part eccentric colonialism. Both a bar menu, on which you’ll discover great light Asian options and hearty British dishes, and a full a la carte complete with banquet and tasting choices, are available to choose from, the focus very firmly on exploring Thai, Malaysian and Indonesian flavours in traditional recipes made using wholly authentic ingredients.
