A surprisingly large pub with something for everyone:

- a warm and tiny downstairs performance space

- a plant-filled beer garden

- rooms with TVs for the sports fans

- cosy armchairs and couches for people who want to stay a while

- rooms with tables big enough to order food

It does get very busy, though, so getting in early and fiercely defending a table may be called for.

A friend picked this location for a large group of us to meet. Situated a 5 minute walk from Liverpool Street station down a small side street I was dubious upon spotting it that there would be enough room for us. I stepped inside…to discover a simply enormous pub! Full of sexy City boys there are several massive rooms with cosy looking armchairs, and several big screens were up showing various football games. What really makes this pub stand out is the beer garden- a large outdoor area with fairy lights in place of a roof. The selection of beers and wines was large, and the food was excellent- burgers were juicy and perfectly-cooked, chips were crispy yet fluffy, and the bar snack options of Welsh rarebit and scotch eggs gave this pub the ultimate British feel. For those who work nearby, I envy you- for others, it is well worth a trip.

This pub down a side street near Spitalfields has something for everyone. It's really deceptive from the outside, looking of average size, but it's enormous inside. There's a pool room, a large garden, several bars and a large downstairs function room that's perfect for parties of 50+. The atmosphere is buzzy rather than corporate and the staff are pretty friendly, until it's closing time when they suddenly get all bossy – 11pm feels like an early curfew, especially in these surroundings and in this bit of town.

Lovely pub just off the bustling streets of Shoreditch. The venue is massive, dont think i've ever seen a pub in London so big. Plenty of bar space which sell an array of craft beers. I visited in the winter but in the summer it would be really nice to seat out in the garden beneath the twinkly fairy lights. Great for a catch up with friends

Good little pub, great selection but was put out a bit when we were all kicked out at closing time...11pm...on a Saturday!

Hidden away down a side street, this pub is pretty understated. It's actually really nice and has tons of space, including a brilliant beer garden which is perfect for the summer months. The food is average and prices overall are pretty reasonable. It's good for if you're meeting up as a big group which can be tough in London.

From the outside, this pub looks like any other but I was so surprised at how big it is inside. There are so many different rooms to find a spot to sit in, and there's a fantastic patio in the back. I came here after dinner, but will definitely need to go back and try the food - it all looked great!

Lovely staff and a great atmosphere every day of the week. I reserved their barn for a birthday party one summers evening and my friends loved the place - our own sound system and a large private area which opens up onto the beautifully lit (always teeming) pub garden. Food's good too.

It's really picked up its game in recent times. Goes to the top of my list.

Lovely quirky pub on the edge of the City. Busy throughout the weekend with Hipsters and City types and then lovely and chilled at the weekends with tourists and locals relaxing for a bite to eat and a few drinks

Really great pub that's a complete surprise when you walk through the door. Apart from the big main bar there's a HUGE garden and restaurant, and even a cinema downstairs.... Lovely place.

We love The Water Poet. It's the best Sunday lunch we've found in London. We're working our way through the desserts. The beer garden is great and the atmosphere makes it one of the coolest pubs I know.
