The late Alexander McQueen’s only UK store is a groovy, contemporary space with curved lines and soft lighting. The ground floor is dedicated to womenswear and accessories, which spill into the lower-ground floor, where you’ll also find some wickedly sharp men’s tailoring, outrageously dapper footwear and manbags.
The bags for women are equally delectable. The last collections from the famously confrontational McQueen seemed more wearable than ever; the business is continuing without its Creative Director, but in what direction remains to be seen. Fans of the label on a tighter budget should seek out the diffusion line, McQ, which packs a gutsy McQueen punch at pocket-friendly prices.
Alexander McQueen is number 55 in our list of the 100 best shops in London.
