A fantastic initiative from Brixton Market that aims to promote re-using and recycling through a big shopping free-for-all - literally. The daylong market will offer bargain hunters the chance to take away a range of pre-loved furniture, clothing, bric-a-brac and home-wares donated by eco-friendly locals for free - no quid-pro-quo or fares involved. The idea is that you bring something you no longer need, and take away something you do. Bring your wares down between 10am and noon to the designated drop–off area at the corner of Popes Rd and Brixton Rd for a cheap and cheerful change of hands. In order to promote a make-do and mend mentality, the market is also hosting free demos from Re-Start Project and Comm-Tech, who will be instructing visitors on basic electrical repairs and recommending local repairers.
