Known for its low prices and thus much loved by impecunious artists and designers (there’s a discount for those with student cards), Cass Art offers a stellar array of artistic materials in its outlets across the capital. The Kensington branch's stock is typical – sketchbooks, moleskin notebooks, sheet paper and brushes, plus inks, markers, oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels in every colour imaginable.

Students, professionals and amateur artists will love Cass Art not only for the cheap prices, but also the selection of artistic materials. The chain store aims to “encourage everyone to realise their creative talents” and rightly so. It offers everything from watercolours, brushes and ink, to grown-up colouring books, canvases and easels, so you won’t be short of choice or inspiration. The Kingston branch in the town centre is one of the smaller branches, but staff are friendly and attentive. The website is quite cool – there is a blog section and really interesting workshops that you can book online as well as being able to shop products. I’d recommend a trip here to find your inner artist (or child)!
