The menu looked great and when the food arrived we were really excited but, unfortunately, it just didn't taste good. Really bland and under seasoned and a few of the combinations just didn't work. I love experimental food but you need to know what you're doing and have some kind of grasp on the basics. I had a feeling a lot of these dishes had been pre-prepared some time ago and just taken straight from the fridge to the table. The service was also slow and we got some funny looks and passive-aggressive comments when we asked for salt and pepper. Way overpriced and way over-rated.

I have tried almost everywhere in the market now and can honestly say this is the worst. Very overpriced for what you actually get-small portions with not much flavour, and very slow rude service. Ended in a misunderstanding over sending something back which i was still charged for and in spite of the fact i honestly reminded them of a dish left off the bill, ended up having an argument with the waiter which left me feeling very insulted. I am not the sort of person to send things back without due cause, nor indeed to EVER argue over paying a bill. Would not recommend to anyone seeing as there as so many great reasonably placed delicious places nearby. Real shame as i'd looked forward to trying it.

Read this if you're thinking about going to Cornercopia. My boyfriend and I went to Cornercopia after getting it recommended by a few people. They sat us at a sweet little table and it was all very nice - until the food came, that is. We were told to order 5-6 dishes between the two of us. Once we ordered all 5 dishes were on the table within 3 minutes. I completely get the concept of the food arriving as and when it is ready, but really? All five dishes within 3 minutes?? Surely there should also be an element of making guests fell welcome, this however felt like they just wanted to get us out the way so they fill the table with someone else - not that anyone was actually waiting. The food itself was a weird mix of ingredients that didn't seem to fit together. One of the dishes was a tuna and bean salad, surprisingly and to our great disappointment, the tuna came straight from a can. And it tasted that way too. We were so looking forward to this locally sourced amazing sounding restaurant, but were left extremely disappointed. When I took the liberty to tell the manager/owner about our disappointment (in a very polite and non-offensive way) he told me that noone else had complained and that something must be wrong with us if we didn't like it. No wonder noone dares to say their opinion if that's the response you get. Everyone can have a bad night, even a chef, but if you run a restaurant you should know better than to tell your paying guests that something is wrong with them. We left there feeling annoyed and with £59 less in the wallet. Wouldn't recommend it and will most definitely not be going back there again. At least not till it has a new owner.

I was expecting really good things from Cornercopia - the whole idea of the local sourcing really appealled to me, and the food looked great on their website. However I was extremely disappointed. I found the food combinations didn't work to the point of being unpalatible, and they were hugely overpriced considering the surroundings. Add to this surly and arrogant staff and the whole experience was extremely unpleasant. We won't be going back.

It may be a dash more expensive than some places in the Brixton Village but it's way, way above most of the others in terms of quality, innovation and taste. I like the quirky staff too.

As much as it makes me feel like a curmudgeon, I ate here about a month ago and I thought it was really bad. My parents were ten minutes late and the waiter hassled me for that entire duration, standing over me and making me phone my mum and read the menu down the phone to her so she could choose before they arrived. My dad and my husband went for a chop - which came with a piccallilly sauce, not mentioned on the menu. Neither of them liked it, saying the flavour combination didn't work. The waiter asked after their full plates, but neither apologised, offered any alternative food or financial recompense for the fact they found their meal inedible. The bill came to over £50 per head, which after bad service and poor food made me even more aware that I was sitting on a tea crate in a drafty, smelly fish market. Never again.

i ate here last week. i thought it was overpriced, the duck i had was dry and a very small portion. service was good tho.
