Just had my hair cut at the model/trainee night that this salon does every Thurs. I have really curly, frizzy hair which most people are scared to cut or they cut it as if it's straight hair but this was a totally different experience. I am SO pleased with the shape. The girl who cut my hair was so meticulous and confident and listened to what I told her about my hair (no one knows my hair better than me!) I would go as far to say that she was better than a lot of the trained hairdressers I've been to. Her name is Sarah Coyne and I highly recommend her. The trainee/model nights offer hair cuts for £10. Highly recommend
Have been going to the salon for three of four years and it's the one luxury I would never give up. The attention to detail is phenomenal on the colour front with Jo often popping over to check on things. Xenda, the senior colourist, is THE very best. My hair always looks fabulous after its appointment - and for the next three or so months. Often get my styling done by various members of the cutting team and have to say I always get comments about how great my hair looks after a visit. It's rare that you get a salon with consistency but Jo Hansford continually ticks all the boxes. Can't not mention the in-house chef Troy's egg and cress sandwiches which I have every time I visit - they are another highlight have to say! Home-made as soon as he gets the order....yum!
Thank goodness I found this salon!! I went to Jo Hansford for some advice on my blonde/orange toned bleach and tinted hair. I really needed someone to be honest with me about how to get my hair back to a natural looking blonde highlighted look. To cut a long story short I can honestly say my hair has never looked better or healthier. The colourist Dom is fantastic, she listens to my requests and is highly professional. Ive seen many hairdressers over the years but am so pleased to say I won't be going anywhere else. Thanks Jo Hansford!
Love love love this salon! My hair has never looked better - I've seen a few of the colourists and they create the absolute perfect highlights every time. Stylist Marcio has also been nursing my hair back from a dodgy hair cut from a previous salon and it now looks red-carpet celeb worthy! Love their Jo Hansford product range too - the shampoo smells divine and keeps my colour gorgeous between appointments. Very friendly team and great that I can bring my hound in at the same time - Jo always has a treat for him! Best salon in the UK by far!
I visited this salon last week after being recommended by a friend and am really happy! I have my hair tinted blonde with some lights and it always ends up looking a bit orange at my local salon. Thought I would take the plunge and get some expert advice and am really happy. all the staff were so lovely and friendly and it was not intimidating like some salons when you enter. Mia did my colour and had a cut with Michaela who are both cheaper staff members so wasn't sure what to expect. however, they were both so sweet and chatty as well as very good and I literally bounced out the salon! My husband and friends think my hair is the best its ever looked so I definitely think it was worth the money even thought I would never normally spend that much on my hair.
charged £260 for stained hair. They left middle of my hair untouched. tinted top 1/3, highlighted a bit bottom part and charged double. means they worked twice. lol and I was being told "this is Mayfair". Amazing. I wanted to colour full head with one colour. and it wasn't even the colour i wanted.
i had an appointment booked at Jo Hansford salon 15 January 2 weeks in advance, and i was so excited and happy to get my hair done there and couldn't wait.on the day of the appointment i was delayed by traffic for about 20 minutes, and i called ot inform reception and they were totally fine with that.
when i arrived to the salon, my first impression was ok ish, but very sort of cold and robot like atmosphere, regardless i thought my hair hopefully would look great and that's why i'm here.
i already had a picture and a video of the hair color i was seeking, and discussed it with he colorist assigned to do my hair ( Ashley)
Ashley was nice and professional, but the work she did on my hair was nothing like i wanted.
i already had an ombre done on my long hair and was quite low by now cause i has it done for a while, all i wanted from Jo Hansford salon was to refresh what i already have and take the blonde strands higher.
what i got after 3 hours is the same exact location of the blonde not an inch higher but much lighter color
result broken elasticated hair with severe split ends and a visible line anyone could see between the blonde and the dark color.
i was so disappointed and my heart started racing, this is not the look i was going for, i would have let my 10 year old niece do that if that's what i was after.
i told Ashley my concern and she asked a colleague to take a look at my hair,
i showed her colleague the picture of the color i wanted and she agreed that this is not at all what i got and she advised Ashley how to redo the hair i T section to achieve the look and to get rid of the line color difference and blend it all together.
after another 3 hours and more bleach in my hair, the result was still exactly the same, with the only difference of ruined hair bleach blonde ends and red brown top.
so disappointed and upset is not actually what describes my feelings as i had my hopes so high and got nothing absolutely nothing.
and i forget to mentioned that they charged me £280 for that, offering for me to come back IF and i quote ' CANNOT LIVE WITH IT '
2 days later i had to go and cut 4 inches of my hair because the ends were falling off and ended up with almost no blonde at all.
i sent an e mail explaining my disappointment and what happened, 2 days later received a missed call from them, after another e mail received a reply to either call them or provide a number to be reached,.
i called them and wish i haven't cause all what they offered is to come back and try fix my hair.
i mean fix what????
i already had to cut it, and there's no way i can put any more chemicals on it, so fix what really cause i don't understand, they didn't even offer to reimburse me my hair cut that i had to do somewhere else.
so there you go, my nightmare experience with Jo Hansford Salon,
finally a word of advice, if you have a very simple roots refresh or trim and can afford £300 for it, Jo Hansford is your Salon, but if you require something a bit more creative please don't waist your money there, its a total rip off
This salon is absolutely incredible and my hair has never looked better. I first booked in for highlights after having a disastrous experience at another 'top' London salon and met Taylor who is one of their top colourists. She really is a miracle worker and gave me the most amazing creamy blonde highlights I have ever had, they are completely flawless! From the moment I arrived I felt completely at ease and knew I'd picked the right place. The assistants were lovely too and so knowledgable about product. They used an amazing Jo Hansford hair mask on me that left my hair feeling so healthy and glossy that I had to take it home with me. I saw Marcio for a cut afterwards and he was an absolute master. My blow dry lasted days! I don't think I've ever been surrounded by so many people with such gorgeous hair, this is definitely the best salon in London and definitely worth the investment!
I'm so glad I hadn’t seen Martina S's review before i visited Jo Hansford for a colour change, as I am happy to say I had a completely different experience! I also had dyed my hair dark for many years and felt ready for something new and wanted it to be made lighter.
I was extremely nervous and like Martina S, booked in to see Dan who is one of the senior colourists. I was so impressed with his professional and intelligent attitude. He was extremely patient, funny and thorough and spent well over the 30 min allocated consultation time talking and explaining to me how the process would work and that the outcome would be dependent upon the rate that the old colour lifted out.
He explained that the condition of my hair was always priority and the lightness after the 1st visit would be less important. He would obviously make sure that the colour I left with was even, looked good and suited me but that the 1st visit would be the beginning of a process which would take time if I wanted to achieve a head of lighter and still long healthy shiny hair.
Apparently there is only so much product a head of hair can take in one day so it doesn’t ruin the condition! I understood this completely before I committed myself and it did take me a few weeks to decide to be brave and go ahead but I am now so happy that I did!
It did take a few visits to achieve the colour that I originally went in asking for and some looking after at home by me with decent shampoo like Jo's that protects the colour plus conditioning treatments but it was hardly any extra effort at all.
I am now a regular and loyal customer and have even seen a less senior colourist called Zenda when Dan was on holiday (I was very neurotic about this) but my nerves were once again proven to be in vain as she was equally as professional, confident and proficient as Dan and with less cost!
In closing, I must add that each visit I make to Jo Hansford's is a complete experience. From walking in the door and always being met with friendly smiles and helpful attitudes from all of the reception team, to the cloakroom staff, juniors and catering company, I cannot find fault anywhere!
Jo Hansford- worst for colour! I needed my hair colour changed from dark brown to dark blond. Pictures in hand of the colour I wanted, went for the consultation with one of the top colourists at Jo Hasfords- Dan. Asked him if he could do this colour (choice of 3) he said yes but added that the 'tone' might be different. 2 weeks later I went in and process started at 12 noon. At 6pm, still with my hair not finished I was asked to pay as the reception was closing. So I paid. 7:20pm the colour was 'finished'. It was dark brown and I will be more then happy to show you the pictures (just in case somebody questions this). I did tell Dan, the colourist, on a number of occasions trough the day, that the colour is still dark. At 7:20pm I told him again but he said it's lighter and it's the lights in the salon making it look darker then it is... On Sunday morning I woke up to a dark brown colour with redish tone... All this for £660. Went back to the salon to ask if they can give me the colour I have been promised but was told that they did the best they could of done for me and that was that. 2 weeks later I'm still shocked and in disbelieve that somebody can get away with this and I'm left out of pocket big time. Be warned that if you do sign any paperwork at Jo Hansfords, they can colour your hair any colour they want. And there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
Do not go there unless you want green hair. Or you want striped uneven tone. They are not interested once you leave the salon. Having spent in excess of 6k in salon over six months for my daughter and I they will not refund the last appointment charge. Beware when you enter the salon. Bitterly disappointed and upset. Perhaps if I was Camilla Parker Bowles they may have listened to me
