Notting Hill
The Music and Video Exchange – which also has branches in Greenwich and Soho – is one of the best places in London for crate-digging record-hunters. The stock is well-organised, mostly in good condition (considering it’s second-hand), and almost embarrassingly comprehensive: rock and pop of all kinds, folk, soundtracks, blues and world music, from the 1960s until now. A separate floor houses soul, hip hop and dance records, and there’s a classical music exchange next door. There are a few highly-priced special editions and new artists, as well as a bargain basement. If you don't mind your music pre-loved, there aren't many better places in London to find it.
