Tidy Hair is a soft-around-the-edges, cosy little salon decked out in retro wallpaper, furniture and fringed lampshades. Owner and local resident Sean O’Sullivan has 22 years of cutting experience to his name and opened Tidy Hair in early 2010 after spotting a gap in the SW9 market for a unisex Caucasian hairdressers. It’s been a booming success, with local media types and students taking advantage of the friendly and affordable service. Women’s cuts cost £35, men’s £22 and kids’ £15. ‘It’s relaxed and informal in here. It feels like a living room because most of the fixtures and fittings came out of my own,’ says O’Sullivan. He and his team do everything from creative cutting and colouring to wedding, punk and vintage styling. The most unusual request to date was from a girl who wanted leopard print on the side of her head – she left a satisfied customer.
