  • There was one great hairdresser here but she left after only a few months. Her replacement was disappointing and ended up cutting my hair uneven and layers were turned into big chunks. As policy worth noting they don't give refunds but they offer a free correction cut. The store manager did mine - never apologised and didn't admit to the mistakes made by her stylist. She could only correct so much else they would need to take more of the length - this was 12 months ago + hair just recovered.

  • Impressed with the reputation and various reviews of the Sloane Square location and recovering from a growing-out cut and colour disaster at a previous salon, I decided to give it a shot. Customer service on the phone was excellent- the receptionist and colourist went out of their way to speak with me and determine my needs, so I went into the salon the next day feeling pretty confident. The colourist was fine, but not great, and seemed to lack confidence. She was polite enough, but didn't seem very present or concerned. Then, while she was working on my hair, a co-worker friend of hers kept coming down to chat about an upcoming holiday they were planning together. She stopped several times to go talk to her and exchange airline login passwords. I tried to be patient and not let it annoy me, but after several more incidents, I wasn't too happy. On one of the "breaks" in the back, the shampoo girl (who was the only one who seemed genuinely friendly) accidentally bumped her elbow and apologized, then was yelled at and given the stink eye like a catty teenager. When it came time for my cut, I explained to the stylist (the same one who had been downstairs flitting around talking about her holiday) how I wanted my hair trimmed in addition to asking her professional opinion about a few concerns. She acted indifferent and had no suggestions or encouragement and left it at that. My cut was fine- okay, and a definite improvement on the previous one, but nothing special either- but my fringe, which I had already discussed three times with her, looks horrid. It's not a difficult style, and after multiple requests to take a bit more off or to shape the sides, I just gave up. After a couple of attempts at polite conversation were shot down by her post-adolescent boredom, I wound up awkwardly sitting there trying to smile and look content. This review probably makes me sound like a diva, though I am anything but. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience, but it certainly did not live up to an ounce of the hype and was not worth the price. The overall experience was not very professional and I would recommend going higher end or downgrading. Toni and Guy seems to occupy an awkward no-man's land. Now where to get a good fringe trim to fix the fuzz in my eyes...

  • Friendly service but a terrible cut for the money. Ten minutes spent cutting long hair in preparation for a wedding and honestly the worst cut I've ever had. Layers not matched up, chunky flat cut ends that look awful. What should have been a simple neatening up was carelessly done. Either the guy who did my cut was incompetent or did not care. I feel like I've been robbed.

  • I tried Toni & Guy because they have a good reputation. Well, before going I read several reviews saying how rude and snarky they were and I figured maybe it was just a personal experience. But they really are. And it seems to be all of them. I went to the one off of oxford circus and they weren't particularly friendly and I almost when to a different one because I was desperate to get my roots done and didn't have time to do a skin test somewhere else so I called a location closer to me..I believe covent garden and the girl was so bitchy on the phone I could not believe it. I cannot believe they let people like that ruin their business. Especially in this economy. The salon itself is not luxurious. You feel like you are in a super cuts. And the stylists don't seem to know too much. I was trying to explain to my hairdresser (who was supposedly the highest level) that I just wanted a high lift on my roots and she didn't know what that was...she wanted ME to tell her specific color shade names. Umm...that's what the hair stylist should be able to figure out by looking at your hair color. How is the customer suppose to know the color names/volumes of your salon's products? Complete idiot!
