I was very nervous about getting my first colour. Jesus was very understanding and explained what were the colours that he thought would suit me. Finally when it was done, it looked completely natural! I was happy and would definitely recommend Jesus to anyone who needs the perfect colour for their hair. Thank you Jesus! Oh also he did an amazing blow dry!

This buzzy Covent Garden salon has a reputation for styling the uber-gorgeous (as the glossy mag pages on the walls, featuring the locks of Kate Moss, Drew`Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow can attest). But don’t be intimidated by the A-lister clientele. The salon has a friendly and down-to-earth vibe; even the minimalist decor is offset by a huge welcoming table in the reception piled with retro board games, tastefully placed art books, and er, 'The Complete Guide to Ferrets'. Come here for beautiful cuts and colouring, with results that feel bang-on-trend without being slavishly stylista. The speed style (£25) created by staff used to turning around top-notch results at breakneck speed at the catwalks is a handy lunchtime option. And stylists will patiently offer advice on how to get the best from your new look at home for those ‘It-didn’t-look-like-this-in-the-salon,’ moments.

After seeing my manager's new haircut from Windle & Moodie I was very impressed with how clean and stylish the cut was. I decided to step in and visit Nicole who gave me knowledgeable advice on my hair as well as addressing concerns I had. After discussing the look I was after, along with some recommendations (I have a funny shaped head you see) her cuts were slick and precise leaving my hair soft and light like a Disney princess. What’s important is how it grows so Nicole's technique meant that my hair grew neatly and evenly before it's next cut.
I have returned to Windle & Moodie on many occasions specifically requesting Nicole as she always knows what I’m after without me having to say anything! She knows her craft very well so I highly recommend her.She also recommended a variety of hair products based on my needs and they’re great.I recently purchased their Foundation Spray and the Light Satin Hairpray which are fantastic products from their new Windle and Moodie collection of hair products.
I've been getting my hair cut by Simon at Windle and Moodie for several years now and I couldn't recommend him more highly. He's technically brilliant, doing fantastic cuts for my short hair - very cool but very wearable and they last a long time and grow out perfectly. I've sent all my friends his way and they are always happy with the results - short and long haired alike. He's the best!
I have followed Simon around for the last 4 years and he is now at the fantastic Windle&Moodie. Once you find a great hair stylist, you don't let them go without a fight! Between the friendly, welcoming and relaxing first class experience I receive at Windle&Moodie and what Simon can do with a pair of scissors and an electric razor, you wouldn't find me going anywhere else. Simon always knows what to do, what you'd like, what works and when to push the boundaries. I highly recommend Simon and Windle&Moodie for a fail safe and excellent experience.
I wanted a big change having had long hair for years and years - the reviews here made me decide to try out Windle and Moodie. After an initial consultation with Mia I felt confident enough to go for a drastic cut. I can safely say it's the best haircut I've ever had - Mia's given me a style that looks amazing and is low maintenance, I couldn't be happier. It's a really nice salon, very relaxed and friendly too. Very highly recommended!
I went to W&M because my friend recommended it. And I am so pleased with my experience. Neives was so nice and patient, she really listen to my requirements and I am happy with my new look. All the other staff are nice and easy going. And the products they used are of high-end. I will definitely recommend to others and go back to W&M.
I've been having my hair cut by Mia for years and every time she does an amazing job! She knows exactly how to cut and style my hair and always makes it exactly to the way I want it. Mia and all the other staff there are unbelievably friendly and welcoming. I would never get my hair cut anywhere else than with Mia at W&M.
I've been going to Simon at W&M for years now and I always come out feeling great. You can leave Simon to his own devices, if you're not 100% sure on what you are looking for, and he will always come up with a style that not only looks great but is perfect for your face shape and style. Alternatively, if you have something in mind Simon is great at adapting it to make sure it suits you. I have loved every hair cut I've had with Simon and would recommend him to anyone (including the fussiest person I know, my Mum, who now won't get her haircut by anyone but Simon!). Simon's attention to detail is one of many aspects that differentiates him from other stylists. The time and care Simon puts into each cut means you will always receive a flawless finish, which will always receive compliments. Simon's easy going personality means overall it is always a great experience with a fantastic hair cut, and I urge you all to experience it! See you soon Simon!
Love W&M. The quality of cuts is great and the experience in the shampoo room with that incredible scalp massage is worth the price of admission alone.
I go and see Simon for a great men's cut - he also seems to do amazing stuff like models' hair at the Burberry catwalk shows during Fashion Week. I suggest following Christopher Bailey's good taste, never mind my views!
I wouldn't go anywhere else.
I've been going to SIMON at Windle & Moodie for years - can't recommend him highly enough!!! For me he's great at doing short cuts for women but since loads of my friends (plus occasionally my mum!) now also go to him I know for sure this isn't his only talent! I've recently moved to Manchester but will definitely be making sure I'm in London every couple of months to see him... Great service, good chat and most of all brilliant cuts - HIGHLY recommended.
I got an email from reception saying I had an appointment with JESUS, and somehow I knew I was in good hands. :) Wow was I right. First of all Jesus fixed my brassy blond into something amazing - gave me a Kate Moss blow-dry, and as I stared in the mirror with a huge smile ... he casually mentioned that he knew the girl in the magazine I was looking at .... LEA SEYDOUX. Ok - so it turns out he styled her Burberry shoot?! I'm obsessed. Best advice. Book early.
I live in China now but anytime I know I'm going back to London, the 1st thing I do (literally) is book an appointment with Fran for a cut. He always manages to fix up whatever unfortunate experience I've had prior. He's a really lovely guy & I always leave happier & with a far slicker, healthier bob than when I walked through the door to begin with. As a designer I would say I'm pretty fussy. My bob (by Fran), always grows out well. Akio also does really great Colour. None of the old 'pick a colour from the book' shenanigans you get in even the priciest of salons in Shanghai. Overall, I can honestly say I love Windle & Moodie. It's one of the things I miss about London.
After having one of the worst haircuts in my life by a hair dresser in Clapham. I decided I will go to Windle and Moodie to get it fixed. Takashi has done my colour before and he is amazing but I never gotten a haircut with them. Fran cut my hair and he is amazing. He knows exactly what suits you and takes lot of time to ensure you look perfect when you leave the salon. I feel like a different person now and the best thing is, my hair still looks perfect even after I styled it myself. From now on Fran will be the only one who is allowed to cut my hair.
I visited London for a week and booked an appointment with Paul Windle. I needed an updated look and Paul more than provided what I was looking for, before I really l even knew what I wanted. I showed him a few pictures of some 'possibilities' that all had one thing in common . . heavy on top and with bangs. He skillfully scissored away for about 1.5 hours and I ended up with the best haircut I've ever had (and I'm no spring chicken either). This short, sassy look is wash and wear and looks fantastic. The look can easily be glamorized and jazzed up for a superbly chic and stylish vibe as well.
My father was a barber for over 55 years and I know a little about the technical aspects of working with hair texture and head shape. I highly recommend Paul; he's a truly talented individual with a keen eye for what will work and what won't and has the skillset to produce an absolutely great hair style. He's a credit to his profession and is a brilliant artist. Thank you Paul!
I have had my hair cut by Mia and coloured by Akio for several years now and have always left the salon happy and satisfied. Mia knows what suits me and her haircuts not only look good on the day but last for many weeks. She is also very friendly, caring and warm - it is like going to see a friend. Akio is equally good. I like the atmosphere of the salon and the service is always good.
I have recommended Mia to two friends and they are both delighted.
Thanks TimeOut for the recommendation - great experience with Fran, very confident & quick as well as aware of what does and doesn't suit me. Will be back.
I have been going to see Mia at Windle for a couple of years now and absolutely love my overall experience at this Salon. I am very lazy when it comes to look after my hair so want a hair cut that will look good after I have washed it and left it to dry naturally. Mia is fantastic when it comes to cutting my hair and listening to my requirements. She understands how my hair behaves, taps into what I like. She always has loads of ideas and gently tries to move me away from repetitive styles to give me a fresh look. I have yet to walk away disappointed! I always feel I've had a fresh hair style and one which I know will look just as good a few days later. I recommend thoroughly Mia and Windle.
After years of searching, I am so glad I found this salon. I have been going to Mia since fall 2013. At the time of my first appointment my curly hair was dry, damaged, and lacking shape. Mia took time to analyse the texture and condition of my hair. She also asked me about what I wanted and really listened. We came up with a plan and six months later the condition and style of my hair has drastically improved. At each appointment Mia always takes a close look at my hair, asks me how I find the shape, and cuts it accordingly. I love how she never gives me a box standard haircut. I have found it very difficult to find a hairdresser who understands curly hair and can cut it well. Mia is excellent at both and, on top of it, is very lovely. I highly reccomend her.
I have been having my hair cut by Jean-Marc for nearly twenty years, first when he was at Andrew Jose in Charlotte St , then at Umberto Giannini in Knightsbridge and for the last 10 years or more ( am very bad at dates) at Windle. Complete strangers used to approach me in shops and ask where I got my hair cut.. less so these days as I have aged and there are more good haircuts about town. However, Jean-Marc is undoubtedly the most thoughtful hairdresser a person could have, he is technically a mastercraftsman and aesthetically always thinking about innovations and subtle changes without going over the top. He will ask you how you want to wear and care for your hair, if you want to make a change for a specific occasion, advise on products and colour and always always leave you feeling renewed and ready to face the world with confidence. More than this he is an intelligent and thoughtful person who is a delight to talk to whether it be about a new novel, the latest HBO or Netflix offering or something more personal and 'confessional'. He is calm, witty and wise. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. And the staff at Windle are lovely too. Absolutely worth every penny and more.
I have to remove my bad review of this hairdressers. After a week with my new do I love it! Jesus colour was fab and now I have styled Vicky cut myself it's a great haircut! I'm eating my previous words and giving this hairdressers all the stars!
I rarely write reviews but after having such a great experience at windle & moodie I thought I should. Normally I find getting my hair cut a bit of a stressful experience and am rarely 100% happy with the result but my stylist, Vicky, interpreted my poor description perfectly and what's more, it not only looked great leaving the salon but a week after people are still commenting on how good my hair looks.
My first time at Windle and Moodie and I saw the lovely Vicky for a hair cut, after reading all the recommendations online. I have to say that it was one of the best experiences of having my hair done, ever. Vicky really listened to me, asking questions about my lifestyle and what i was looking for and gave me a lot of confidence to have a dramatic change to my hair (which is what i wanted ). She then took so much time showing me exactly how to style my new look, which no one has ever done before. I wasn't rushed and everyone was super friendly. I think sometimes going to the hairdressers can be a bit intimidating, but everyone made so much effort to give me a really lovely experience here. I love the cut, and i will definitely be coming back.
Wanted to say a huge thank you to the wonderful staff of Windle & Moodie - they are the best! For colour, Jesus is a total dude; he really took the time to understand my hair and had some brilliant recommendations. It was also a lot of fun - I love the result. For the cut I had Mia who was wonderful. I really appreciated how she spent time finding out about my lifestyle and delivered a style which looks amazing and that I can keep up at home. Definitely the best hairdresser I have visited - I'll be sure to come back next time I'm in London.
I have been going to have my hair cut by Mia at Windles (now Windle & Moodie) for more years than I can remember. She is the best hair dresser that I have ever come across, as well as being incredibly nice, friendly and considerate, and indeed has become a good friend. A definite sign of an excellent cutter is not simply how it looks immediately after the event, but whether it lasts. Mia's haircuts look good for ages, which Is why I only need to go back every 12 or 13 weeks. So although the salon isn't at the cheapest end of the market, it is definite value for money. It is also a great place to go: brilliant ambiance and treated to hot chocolate. I cannot recommend Mia and the salon more highly.
Fantastic salon and the whole team is professional and friendly! I've been coming here for the best part of 10 years and never disappointed! Mia (the most friendly hairdresser you'll ever meet) cuts my hair perfectly every time and it always feels and looks beautiful and amazingly nourished. It's always cut in such a way that even if you only visit every 6 months, the hair keeps it's shape and doesn't look in need of re-styling. I highly recommend this salon, good value for money, great team and a lovely few hours of pampering.
Had my hair cut yesterday by Victoria, I wanted a drastically different style and she gave great recommendations on what was quite a vague idea. She was incredibly detail oriented and made sure I was happy throughout the process. Very knowledgable and talented.
Also, she's featured in the Covent Garden magazine!
Another must-mention is the mood-lit shampooing area, super relaxing.
I recently went to W and M for the first time and had my hair cut by Victoria, and in sum, I've never been happier after a hair cut.
It was my birthday and I was asking her to cut off about 7 inches before I went out in the evening. I was expecting to have to go home and manically wash and restyle my hair - standard procedure after every other big hair cut I've had elsewhere. This was the first time I've ever left the hairdressers and not had to do that. She did exactly what I wanted. It's so nice when a hairdresser actually understand what you want, rather than cutting your hair too short/blow drying it too straight/insisting on layers and 'feathering' which leave you feeling like Rachel Green circa 1996.
Victoria was great, she listened and totally got what I wanted, as well as making suggestions which left me with a mid-ish blunt bob that I love.
Oh and its amazing value for money.
I will DEFINITELY be going back :)
Love Windle and Moodie despite being less than uber-gorgeous (see Timeout introduction)! So happy to see that Fran has returned as he is a genius and also listens to what I ask for. Couldn't be happier.
I have been visiting this salon for a year and get my haircut by Vicki. She is a great stylist and has given me some great cuts and beautiful blow drys. I have very thick hair and find it difficult to find stylists that understand how to cut and style my hair so it achieves a soft shiny finish. Vicki is very good with thick hair and I have always been very pleased with the results. I also think the salon is exceptional value compared to other salons. I pay less than half what I was paying at Michael Van Clarke and the result is much better! I would definitely recommend this salon!
After more than 2 years looking for the perfect hair salon I finally found it! I am more than satisfied with the service throughout as everyone is very friendly and gives you that feeling of being special. You get your hair washed in a separate room which means pure relaxation as you cannot hear a single hair dryer in there - just low-volume music. Get your hair cut by Charles and I am certain you will leave the salon not only with a stunning haircut but also with a smile on your face.
I recently had my first experience at Windle and Moodie and was very impressed with my stylist Charles! After years of trying to find a hair dresser that can untangle my curls, I finally found someone to do that and turn my hair into something out of vogue! Highly recommend Charles, especially if you love braids! :)
I was always very loyal to my hair stylist back home in Madrid and would always wait until I went home to get my hair cut. I was very nervous about finding a stylist here but a friend recommended Charles at Windle & Moodie so I went there. Everyone at the salon was really friendly and Charles was a very professional and skillful stylist. Now I have ditched my salon back in Madrid and will only come to him to get my hair done.
Highly recoment this salon to visit ;) very profesional friendly loving team ;) my appoitment is always on time and I can't be more then happy with the service they provide , Paul the stylist you does my hair he amazing , he always knows what I want and also remember me as a customer next time ;)
The location of the salon is at covent garden which is great for everyone, is right in the centre in Piccadilly line ;) go and try windle and moodie and you won't regret
Highly recommend Nicole. Excellent stylist- amazing cuts and her blow drys are wonderful. Several of my friends have been styled by her too so I've seen her great work on both short and long hair.
I love this salon and my amazing stylist Nicole! Always so friendly and knows exactly what I want, even better than I do. Have always left loving my new haircut! Would highly recommend to anyone and especially with Nicole as your stylist!
Excellent! Had Vicki cut my hair this morning and it looks fantastic. Staff are really friendly and knowledgeable, the room where they wash your hair is really relaxed and the whole place has a really nice vibe. My hair was a bit of a mess when I arrived due to a previous experience in another salon but Vicki took the time to make it look fabulous again. This will be my new regular salon. Highly recommend.
Finding a decent men's hairdresser is not easy. I like Windle and can honestly say I've never needed to go elsewhere. I use Jean-Marc. Least annoying hairdresser I've met. Good sense of humour, doesn't take long, listens to what you want and tells it like it is. Job done.
Being a fashion girl who knows what she wants, it was with slight intrepidation I made my way to Windle & Moodie. Fortunately for me a friend (a fashion insider who has impeccable taste) pointed me in the direction of Moodie & Windle and colourist Akio. As soon as I met Akio I trusted him immediately and knew I'd found an absolute gem. Akio was super patient and asked all the right questions to get to know me and the look I was hoping to achieve. He worked tirelessly to give me the highlights I was looking for. Not very easy with thick hair like mine (and a slighlty critical eye!). Akio made me feel so relaxed - his colouring is a whole different level. He brought a calming vibe to the busy salon and made me feel at ease in no time. Akio being as modest as he is won't mention the celebrity models he's worked for - the wait is worth it. I've already recommended Moodie & Windle Salon to my friends who snapped up the number. I couldn't reccomend this salon enough, it's cool, stylish and incredibly good with people.
I have recently discovered Windle & Moodie and all I can say is it is one of the best salons in London.. Every time I visit the salon I like to have a different haircut so it is important for me to have a really creative and motivated hairdresser, this salon does not disappoint. I would recommend it to all of my friends.
I am a regular client to windle & moodie and always left the salon happy with my service but unfortunately on this occasion i was disappointed to hear Jamie had left windle & moodie salon.I was very unimpressed with the level of service and communication that was delivered i was recommended another colorist and made to believe they had my previous colour records but in this case it was a lie as my unconfident colourist had no idea what colour to use on my hair i left feeling frustrated and angry. But thankfully i discovered that my colorist jamie is only 10 minutes away in a salon called saco and i look forward to visiting him
Once again, went to Vicki for a cut; she took my hair from short to shorter and did exactly as I asked. Very intuitive about hair and really understood how my hair works, which says a lot! Will be going back to her when ready for another cut.
I've been a regular at Windle & Moodie for a few years now and don't see that changing anytime soon. MJ is one of the best stylists that I've ever had and she really knows her stuff. She's particularly talented when it comes to total transformations - she cut my curly hair from long to short and now I have a super sexy, stylish pixie crop. Whenever I want to mix things up a bit, she always knows what I mean and never fails to deliver. My advice to anybody who's thinking of cutting their long/mid length hair short, but is feeling a little nervous, would be to go and see MJ, she'll put you at ease, talk everything through with you and then give you the cut of your life - you'll walk out feeling on top of the world!!
I love everything about the salon and the thing that makes me keep return is the way jamie colours my hair im never disappointed I always leave feeling a million dollars
I've had the most wonderful experience after going to see jamie to get my hair colour done such great length was given to explain what could be done and what would suit me and im so happy with the results a must I couldn't recommend higher
I LOVE MY NEW HAIR @ Windle & Moodie! Nicole my hair stylist gave me a long bob which at first I was hesitant about but now I just love it. The cut makes me feel fresh and my hair is a lot thicker. The salon itself was charming as were the staff. Usually I feel slightly uncomfortable when going to hair salon but Windle & Moodie staff made me feel completely at ease. I hope I can keep on going to Nicole as I have never had a better haircut nor have I been treated so well.
I was heartbroken when the hairdresser I'd been to for 20 yrs retired. It's been a long search for another. I've tried lots, unsuccessfully. I'm so glad to have found Windle and Moodie. It's a friendly salon, lovely surroundings and best of all, excellent haircut. Thanks, Paul.
Windle & Moodie is exactly the salon I have been hoping to find since I moved to London a few years ago, it's perfection! Effortlessly cool whilst being luxurious, ideally located in Seven Dials and the staff have just the right mix of being friendly and attentive without any hard sell tactics. My regular stylist is also Vicki who with just a bit of vague direction from me was able to deliver exactly what I had hoped for in a new style, which works equally well if I style it or if I have a lazy day and can't be bothered. Without a doubt it's the best haircut I've had in my life. It's the little things, too, that make all the difference - usually when you go in for a fringe trim they want you out the door as soon as possible, but at Windle & Moodie they take the time to have a nice chat with you, make you a tea, and then use lovely Bumble and Bumble products and a blow dry as well (indeed, they treat fringe trims like all other cuts). Have tried lots of salons in London and Windle & Moodie is the best by a mile. Thoroughly recommended.
After trying several salons in London I have settled on Windle and Moodie which is consistently reliable and welcoming. My regular stylist is Vicki, who always does my hair just the way I like it, and with a smile! The standard of her work is better than the price tag would suggest, and is very good value. The first time she cut my hair I wasn't sure how to change it to get a look that worked for me, but Vicki had a natural understanding of what would work and I am really pleased with the result. I travel specially from Wiltshire and it is well worth it. Thoroughly recommended.
