Jack White (no, not that one), a private in the army, took over a Manchester clothing factory after returning from World War I. It went on to produce quality garments for Burberry, Aquascutum and Paul Smith, and earned a justified reputation for its excellent British workmanship. The business remains a family one, with White's great grandson running the Manchester premises, but it now has a label of its own, taking the classic British, military style of its founder as inspiration. Private White VC's London store showcases its stylish menswear collection. The shop is designed to be an extension of the Manchester factory, filled with rustic wooden fixtures, sewing-machine tables and metal lockers. It has the largest PWVC collection in the UK - including soft-shouldered suits, tweed jackets and classic raincoats, all with a Made in Britain label.
