Olympic Stadium

The Stadium hosted some of the most exciting moments of the 2012 Olympic Games from the Danny Boyle-directed outlandish Opening Ceremony to Usain Bolt’s record breaking 9.63-second 100-metre sprint. Although currently closed for works including the addition of a roof over the seats, the Stadium will re-open temporarily for the Rugby World Cub in 2015 and permanently, in 2016, as the new home of West Ham United Football Club and as a national competition centre for athletics.

The Queen Elizabeth Stadium is an iconic sporting location. It’s steeped with history from the 2012 Olympic Games. However, it is now trying to find a new identity by hosting a variety of athletics and rugby events. The facilities are good and the new roof which covers all the seats has been a great addition.Sometimes the bars are a little bit of a let down - running out of drinks, the card machines failing etc. However, I would recommend going to an event here if you can - just maybe prepare for not being able to get a drink!
