Chickenshed was founded in 1974, on the premise that the performing arts belong to everyone who wants to join in. This inclusive policy has attracted around 700 members from every background. Performances are held in one of four spaces including, in summer, an outdoor amphitheatre. 'Tales from the Shed' (Friday and Saturday morning) is aimed at under-sevens, bringing stories, both original and tradititional, to life.

Been to some brilliant jazz evenings here - top class acts at a fraction of the cost of the Westend. Also tried their drama workshops - great fun, taught by lovely, professional and patient(!) staff. Great place to drop in for a coffee, too (the cafe/restuarant is open all day). Very relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
