London theatre's free outdoor summer blowout is back

If you're looking for free outdoor fun for all this summer, you'd do well to head down to Greenwich. The borough hosts the annual Greenwich and Docklands International Festival 2016 (GDIF) which brings together a brilliantly diverse line up of companies from all over the world. Over nine days there are events outdoor and inside at venues  scattered all around Greenwich, Docklands and further afield. Highlights this year include 'The House' (National Maritime Museum, Jun 24) a spectacular opener about the fall and rise of civilisations; 'Silence' (Bethnal Green Gardens, Jun 30 and Jul 1), a Polish work about Europe's refugee crisis; and 'The Clash of Drums' (Royal Artillery Barracks, Jul 2) the gigantic firework and percussion finale that closes it all. Plus miscellaneous smaller events, including the anarchic 'Greenwich Fair' (Jun 25 and 26) which this year includes a mass recreation of the audition scene from 'A Chorus Line'.
