Some of the zoo's inhabitants are pretty scary at the best of times, but Halloween is their chance to be extra creepy as visitors are treated to this week of family-friendly activities during half-term. This year, spiders are the star attraction with a super spooky exhibit exploring how they spin such exquisite webs and how they use their venom to snare prey. Brave visitors can also make their way through the spider forest to marvel at the golden orb spiders dangling within, before venturing into the darkness of the Owl Emporium and whipping up potions in the Grim Curiosity Shoppe. Creative nippers can carve out pumpkins and help prepare fruit for bearded pigs to bob for (£3).
