Garden-obsessives and Titchmarsh megafans have already bought up all the Chelsea Flower Show tickets, but that doesn’t mean there’s no horticultural fun to had out west this weekend. The shops in and around Sloane Square, Sloane Street and Duke of York Square will decorate their fronts (and/or sides) with plants and flowers for Chelsea in Bloom in the hope of winning either an expert judging panel’s top prize or The People’s Champion Award, which you can vote for online. This year’s theme is ‘Fairy Tales’, so vendors such as Jo Malone, Fendi and the winner of last year’s competition Kate Spade will all be garlanding their exteriors in magical, mythical displays. Complimentary guided tours and rickshaw rides will help visitors get a good view of the best of the bunch, there’ll be a pop-up Champagne bar and a fairytale forest in Sloane Square, and those keen for a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party should drop in at the Duke of York Square for Pimm’s from a giant teapot. Check the Chelsea in Bloom website for full details and a map.
