At £6 entrance I rather expected more than a late start and only 25 minutes of rather less than spectacular fireworks. In previous years the displays have been tremendous so I was rather disappointed that this yer's were not so magnificent. We were promised spectacular music from stage and screen. Ok, so there was Star Wars and the James Bond theme, but how in any way can Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I Know Him So Well or The Lonely Goatherd be considered "dramatic". Yes, I am aware that there were a lots of young children there, but far too young to know these songs. Young children also love the big sounds of blockbuster movies which would have added so much more to the atmosphere. The music programme seemed to have no logical order, no logical connection between the tracks. Almost as if someone had randomly googled for "songs from stage and screen" and just thrown the first dozen or so together, Very disappointing.

This year's Ealing Cricket Club display is themed on 'Stage and Screen' - the whizzing and banging will be accompanied by dramatic music from the rather appropriate 'Skyfall' and 'Star Wars', as well as 'The Dark Knight' and 'Phantom of the Opera'. For refreshment, a bar will be serving mulled wine, alongside a barbecue and candy-floss stalls, and there will be rides and glow-in-the-dark novelties on sale. Doors open at 6pm – arrive early to avoid the queues.
