Over the last six months the team behind Electric Bloom has been exploring Hackney's history, running arts workshops for local communities and worning on creative installations and exhibitions. The area's textile industry and botanical hothouse (which closed in the 1850s) are particular focuses, so many of the works are floral in design. On this launch day works will be on display all over Hackney, and their app will provide a night trail allowing visitors to see the artworks which are at heritage landmarks, with stories to complement them.
