The Garden Museum is bringing in the new year in style with a new exhibition of horti-couture exploring the many cross-overs between fashion and gardening. The V&A, the National Gallery and the British Museum have all loaned pieces for the show; exhibits include rare silk pieces by Anna-Maria Garthwaite, designs by Valentino and Alexander McQueen, a rarely seen 1779 collage of the Common Corn Poppy by Mary Delany, Philip Tracey’s orchid hat and a portrait, exhibited for the first time since it was painted in 1606, of young Jacobean heiress Lettice Newdigate posing in an elaborate garden.
