Tue Dec 4 2012
An exhibition of the travel drawings of classical scholar Edward Dodwell and Italian artist Simone Pomardi, made in Greece in the years 1805-6. At the time, French military occupation prevented travellers visiting Italy on the Grand Tour, and many chose to explore Greece instead. With watercolours and drawings on display, ranging from rural landscapes to Greek antiquities, the exhibition will examine the motivation for such travel as well as its cultural consequences.
