Potter down to the embankment of Royal Victoria Dock this summer and you'll find yourself on one of London's largest urban beaches. More than 200 tonnes of sand have been shifted into place for our waterside pleasure, so dig out your jelly sandals and get ready to build some castles. Deckchairs are available for those who would prefer to keep sand contact to a minimum, and free family-friendly activities should allow parents a little time out to breathe in that Thames-fresh air. Unfortunately swimming is prohibited at all times.
