The Time Out Love London Awards are designed to help Londoners showcase the best bits of where they live. We want to know what’s great about your neighbourhood, and give you a chance to tell others what’s great about it. The campaign runs in three stages, as follows:

Stage 1 – Nominations. An online form will be hosted on timeout.com/london for four weeks in September. Its purpose will be to enable people to nominate their favourite venue, or business, in a London neighbourhood.

We’ve tried to cover most of the capital’s neighbourhoods, but to make the process as smooth as possible for people, we’ve limited it somewhat. So, smaller areas may be linked with larger, neighbouring ones, and we’ve stuck to places with a London postcode. However, we are aware that lots of you live in other postcode areas, so if we get lots of people talking about a certain area, we’ll aim to include it in the voting and reveal stages.

We’ve set categories, to try and make navigation as easy as possible at the next stages. They are: pubs and bars; restaurants; shops, cafes and coffee shops; and local culture (think independent cinemas, galleries, theatres and so on).

You can nominate as many places as you like, and anyone can nominate.

We will check the nominations, and restrict the shortlist at the next stage to a maximum of ten venues, though it can be fewer.

Not every venue is guaranteed to make it through to the next stage – we reserve the right of discretion, if we think a nomination is inappropriate, or insincere.

Stage 2 – Voting. An updated form will go live after we’ve collated all nominations. We’ll email everyone who has nominated, to let them know voting is live. This is the time to get behind your favourite local businesses and encourage others to vote for them.

You can only vote for one venue per category, but you can vote for venues in other areas.

Businesses will get through to the shortlist based on the number of nominations. The businesses with the highest number of nominations will get through.  A category must have a minimum of 3 to make it through and a category can only have a maximum of 10 venues.  If a category has less than 3 businesses nominated, the whole category for that area will be removed.

Stage 3 – Reveal. The places with the most votes will then be presented at the Reveal stage as ‘Winner’ and ‘Runner-up’. There can only be one winner per category, per area. Winners will be selected solely based on the number of votes they have received. If two or more venues have received the same number of votes, they will all be put into a ballot and selected at random, which will be final.

Winning venues will be showcased in Time Out magazine and on timeout.com/london in November, and so be seen by more than 6 million Londoners.
