Southwark Playhouse

Another of London's enterprising subterranean venues, Southwark Playhouse has established itself as the go-to place for exciting, inventive theatre. Its dark and musty space in the vaults beneath London Bridge station offers bags of character; a ramshackle bar and a surprisingly spacious auditorium providing plenty of nooks and crannies for Southwark's 'Secrets' - a series of short, unconventional works taking in theatre, comedy and storytelling. As well as welcoming youth theatre companies, Southwark Playhouse also organises Present:Tense, a programme that invites emerging playwrights to collaboratively come up with new material based on pertinent themes in the news.
