The basement of this Stokie pub has been championing the more left-leaning of north London's independent music makers for almost 20 years, via institutions like the Corn Rocket Club (dedicated to garage, punk, trash, surf beat and rock 'n' roll). It's also the site of regular improv meet, Flim Flam, which regularly showcases freeform sounds from far further afield than its Stoke Newington home.

Ps: I forgot to mention, the food was, at best, mediocre.

Possibly the poorest service I have received in any establishment. A pleasant enough pub, with a large beer garden and relatively cheap drinks, I was lulled into a false sense of security and decided to order some food here from their Thai kitchen. After a wait of over an hour and numerous enquiries my companion's main couse turned up. When we enquired as to what had become of our starters we were told that they would be along soon, and were informed that the kitchen was closing, and were told by the barmaid we were lucky to be getting our food! My main eventually turned up, accompanied by the soup i odered for a starter. My companions fish cake starter turned up after we had both finished, but was sent back and refunded, though without the slightest hint of an apology. I would drink here again, but will definately not be ordering food!
