Friday

Before your weekend really gets going, feed your craving for something sweet thanks to Uber's ice cream delivery. Open the Uber app starting at 11am and you'll be able to have some of our favorite ice cream from LA scoop shops delivered to your door.

With your sweet tooth satisfied, make your way to the Natural History Museum for the next installment of Summer Nights in the Garden. Learn how to compost, bundle herbs and press flowers into bookmarks while sipping on cocktails made fresh from the museum's garden. RSVPs are at capacity, but you might be able to snag a free ticket at the door.

Stretch out your night with yoga and live music during the opening weekend at Wanderlust Hollywood. This new wellness center is hosting both a vinyasa yoga class and a DJ set; come back tomorrow night, too, for live music and a more metaphysical class.

Saturday

Set your alarm early on Saturday morning so you can go watch a clock. No, seriously: Christian Marclay's The Clock is screening at LACMA for 24 hours straight, starting today at 10am. The daylong video takes scenes of clocks and watches from movies and mashes them up into a single real-time film; you can pop in at any time during the day and, best of all, it's free.

Travel to the tropics on Saturday afternoon during American Cinematheque's annual Tiki Night. The courtyard of the Egyptian Theater will be turned into a tiki marketplace, featuring both new and vintage Polynesian-inspired wares. Show up later in the day for cocktails, dance performances and a screening of the 1985 Cinerama travelogue, South Seas Adventure.

While LA may have missed out on that other olympiad, it does have the honor of hosting the Special Olympics World Games. The weeklong competition, in which children and adults with intellectual disabilities compete in 25 sports, kicks off today at the Coliseum with an opening ceremony performance by Stevie Wonder as well as appearances by Michelle Obama,
Jimmy Kimmel, Michael Phelps and more.

After the sun sets, make your way to the Griffith Observatory for this month's Public Star Party. Admire the moon and constellations—unseasonal gloominess permitting—through the Observatory's 12-inch telescope or one of the hundreds of other savvy star enthusiasts' personal scopes; we're sure they'd be happy to share if you ask nicely.

Head back down the hill to UCB Sunset for a live read of Clueless. An ensemble of UCB performers will celebrate the teen movie's 20th anniversary with what we're sure will be a very, very serious reading of the script; performers include some of our favorite up-and-coming comedians like Nicole Byer and Colton Dunn.

Sunday

Today is the final day of DineLA Restaurant Week, so get in one last prix fixe lunch or dinner—may we suggest trying one of these eight newcomers?

It's also the last day of the iam8bit 10th Anniversary Art Show. The Echo Park art gallery is celebrating its first ten years with works from 100 international artists that tackle retro video games—think Mario, Zelda and Space Invaders—in a show that sure beats some half-assed Adam Sandler movie.

If you're up for some beer and a trip to the beach—really, who isn't?—head over to the Santa Monica Pier for BLVD on the Pier. The Midwestern brewery Boulevard is taking a roadtrip to Santa Monica for the summer with a pop-up series of live music, lawn games, fashion, food and $5 beers.

Wrap up your weekend at the Greek Theatre for an evening with Jim Gaffigan. The "clean" comedian proves that you don't have to hate something just because it's popular. Expect his material to wander into weird places without ever losing the crowd—and most likely his classic Hot Pockets bit.
