Amazing Bronx River Flotilla

SUNDAY, APRIL 29

Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival
Happening rain or shine, this weekend celebration of Japanese culture is legendary. The blooming cherry blossom esplanade isn't the only amazing sight: Many visitors dress up for the occasion, meaning fabulous traditional finery and cutting-edge anime outfits give the foliage some fierce competition. Lots of special programming's on tap—tea ceremonies, taiko drumming, presentations on manga art and flower arranging, and live dance. Sun Apr 29 10am--6pm. Brooklyn Botanic Garden. $15, students $10, children under 12 free. All ages.

Arbor Festival
Bring the family to the Queens Botanical Garden's festival for a day of environmentally conscious fun. Local artisans, staff garden and nature specialists, and other vendors will be selling their wares, conducting demos (such as tai chi) and holding workshops. Acclaimed musician and puppeteer Janice Buckner will present two shows, "Ecology: Songs of the Earth Community" (1pm) and "Families: Yours and Mine" (2:30pm). Kids can also stop by the Children's Activity Table for ongoing crafts, including origami. Sun Apr 29 11am--4:30pm. Queens Botanical Garden. Free with admission. All ages.

Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art Festival
The annual two-day event attracts illustration lovers with its wide selection of comics, mini-comics, graphic novels, animation and original artwork. Older kids might also be interested in attending signings and panel discussions featuring artists and experts. Sun Apr 29 11am--6pm. Lexington Avenue Armory. $15 per day, both days $24; in advance $12 per day, both days $18. Ages 10 and up.
